Capitol Hill Bureau Chief

On MSNBC's
Morning Joe this morning, Liz Cheney said that her father could easily be fishing with his grandchildren in Wyoming, but he is too worried about the safety of the nation to go gently into retirement.
"He feels the administration is making the country less safe," she said, adding, "He feels an obligation to speak out."
The former second daughter (and State Department official) criticized the Obama administration for ending several Bush-era policies related to counter-terrorism, as well as for considering criminal prosecution of White House lawyers who wrote memos on the permissibility of torture.
She also struck out at White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs saying, "He's always got a cute one-liner, usually about the vice president," but said Gibbs doesn't answer important questions about the safety of the nation. "It's a dangerous game they're playing."
Finally, she faulted the White House for not reaching out to her father since taking office, saying Joe Biden had promised to follow-up with the former vice president after an initial meeting at the Naval Observatory, but never did.
"They could find him if they wanted to. They know the number for the transition office."
We'll have the video up as soon as it's available.
