Swift Boat Veterans for Killing Health Care Reform

    Posted:
    05/14/09
If you liked what the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did for John Kerry's presidential campaign and abstinence-only education, you're going to love what they have cooked up for the nation's health care system!

Spoiler alert! It involves the two fundamental tenants of the Kerry ads:

    1. Advocating for an unpopular status quo.
    2. Lying.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you "Conservatives for Patients' Rights"...

The Swift Boaters who helped take down John Kerry's presidential campaign are back in action. Or at least their donors are. Rick Scott, founder of a group called Conservatives for Patients' Rights and a major funder of the Swift Boat Veterans, has launched a new campaign against President Obama's healthcare plan.

Conservatives for Patients' Rights and Scott, the former owner of Hospital Corporation of America, have been spreading their word across the Internet with informative videos like the one below, suggesting that if you ever get sick in England or Canada, you might as well commit suicide on the spot to hasten the inevitable.

Although the video makes no mention of the Obama health plan, the implication is clear: If we do anything to shake up our current system that leaves 46 million Americans uninsured while making millionaires out of hospital execs like Scott, we might as well move to England and rot to death in a hospital waiting room.

Needless to say, this will all be Kerry's fault.
