Capitol Hill Bureau Chief
In response to Joe Torsella's
decision to drop out of the Democratic primary race against Sen. Arlen Specter, Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) released the following statement about when he'll make his own decision about a Specter challenge:
"I, as well as every Pennsylvania voter, respect an individual's decision to get in or get out of a race. In addition, I very much respect Joe Torsella. However, this event does not affect my decision making process because for me it is not who you are running against, it is what you are running for. My decision has always been about whether Pennsylvanians, and initially Pennsylvania Democratic Primary voters, have a choice of someone who wants what they want for the future in terms of health care, educational opportunity, economic security, and other key issues. If Arlen is not that individual, and he has yet to show that he is, then I will not hesitate to enter the race. My final decision will be made in the not too distant future after close consultation with the people of Pennsylvania and with my wife and daughter."
