Here at Politics Daily we've spent a lot of time considering the meteoric rise of 24-year-old Meghan McCain as a force within the Republican Party. Socially liberal, John McCain's daughter has proven a lighting rod for criticism within GOP circles for her calls to moderate and modernize a party that is now shrinking in every measurable category except for the devoutly religious. Last night, Ms. McCain appeared on "The Colbert Report," and turned in another controversial (and funny) performance that is sure to anger what is left of the Republican ranks.
David, Meghan McCain is not "a force within the Republican party." She's a dumb little kid (24 going on 14) who desperately needs attention in order to fill up her empty life. She's good for a laugh, and people love taking pot-shots at her, but anyone with half a brain does not take her seriously.

That sounds alot like Sarah Palin - She's a dumb little kid (44 going on 14) who desperately needs attention in order to fill up her empty life - Check (yes, even with 5 kids). She's good for a laugh - check, and people love taking pot-shots at her - check, but anyone with half a brain does not take her seriously - check. It's all there - enjoy!

Couldn't agree more with you. She's "famous" because of her dad, not unlike many kids in this world. Somehow, people put some sort of credence into what these people have to say.

The problem with both parties are the extreme partisans these message boards are living proof of this.

I would have to agree with Miss McCain. The Republican Party is dying and there is no getting around it. The only way to get more people in the party is to open the party up. The idea of true conservatism is becoming so extreme that even those that are currently see themselves as a Republican are slowing being pushed away by the radical conservatives such as those people who have already responded to this interview.

Hello dumbassess, all the kids of presidential nominees or winners become famous in some way. The 2 in the White House actually have dolls. There's no point in that. She is not stupid, either. There are many women out there who are pro-sex. Maybe if they had showed more of the show then really short, stupid cut outs, there would be more to the story. I'm not Democrat or Republican. It seems whenever I read any of these posts, al the Dems are nasty people. You don't do justice for your party.

I do find it very odd that she is announcing to the whole world that she is pro-sex. Great for you Megan, but don't go broadcasting that to everyone because as was said in this poorly written article, she is ruining what is left of the Republican party which isn't much. At least she's honest which is something that none of the Dumbocrats- Oh, I'm sorry- Democrats can say. This was obviously written by a Dumbocrat to make yet another stab at the Republican party. I bet a 4-year-old could write better than that.

The only person in the news I am more sick of hearing about than the Octocon is Meghan McCain. What has she ever done than is worthy of any atttention except shoot off her mouth with idiocy whenever she is attention-seeking? Crap, even I could do that. Like any immature, bratty toddler, if she doesn't get any attention, she will quiet down and go away. Her 15-minutes is up--yesterday.

That's funny oroszjanet, your description of Ms. McCain totally fits Rush Limbaugh. Funny how you idolize someone who does the same thing only from a point of view that you agree with and demonize someone who does the exact same thing from a view point that you disagree with. All vitriol that the far right throws at this young woman is balanced by the love they show Rush. Same person different views. Too funny.

Yea okay, I am a registered Democrat. If have a choice between Rush Limbaugh, Newginrich, or a host of other old school rich get richer republicans. I will take Meghan any day. I would agree she is probably not the next GOP powerhouse. So I hope that most republicans agree with theLoft. Go right ahead and sweep Meghan under the rug. Lets not forget one of the biggest reason my party is running the White House is because young people like Meghan realized they have a voice and that they could change a nation. Besides most of the issues we are dealing with now are going to be completed and maintain by her generation. Owe and make no mistake about it she will never obtain as many pot shots as her dad our George W

The only times Republicans have lost at the polls is when we try to be more like Democrats and moderates -- John McCain, Bob Dole, etc. The times we have stayed true to our conservative ideals, we have kicked the Democrats asses all over the place.

I beg to differ. Neither Eisenhower (who's descendants backed Obama) nor Reagan (who Bush 41 initially did not get get along with) were old school conservatives. The GOP loses when they face people who magnanimous and can make more Americans feel that we are all in this together. The GOP loses when they practice the politics of division.

what the hell are conservative princibles? is it cutting taxes tot he bone so the roads do not get fixed? is it pledging to do something about abortion and only causing more? Is it national security, where you think pissing off everyone in the world will make us safer? or is it selling off our industrail base for short term personal profit? I was out knocking on doors and doing all I could to get ronald reagen elected, so what did I get for being a republican back then? well ronny did all he could to destory the american auto industry, which we are seeing the results now and the very 1st thing he did when he left office is go to japan and make a short speech for 5 million dollars, was his words worth 100k each or was that simply his payoff? I am no democrat but I value the United States far to much to ever vote for a republican again. what is patriotism is it wearing a flag on your lapel or trying to do what is right for the nation, well the republicans make it on 1 of the 2 make up your own mind which it is

Only the liberals would view Meghan McCain as a 'force' in any political party. The Republicans view her as she is, a Paris Hilton wannabe.
