This video of former Florida Speaker of the House Marco Rubio is making the rounds in the conservative blogosphere. As HotAir asks: "Why in the world would John Cornyn and the NRSC want to back Charlie Crist against this guy?"
To be sure, the NRSC's premature endorsement of Governor Crist would have evoked some negative reaction -- even if his primary opponent were some right-wing nobody... or a squishy liberal Republican. But with Rubio, the Republican establishment has essentially pushed aside a young, attractive, conservative, Hispanic, highly-qualified, experienced leader.
The establishment mentality never changes. Remember, it was the Republican establishment who thought that the Gerald Fords, Nelson Rockefeller's, and Bob Doles were better than Ronald Reagan. The more things change...
Here is Rubio's announcement video ...
Over at Townhall, Greg Hengler writes: "Rubio is a Cuban-American; he will turn 38 years-old on May 28. Whether you agree with his final statement of "truth" or not, this guy is a star."
I concur. If only we weren't strangling the baby in the crib ...
Uh, I believe Charlie Crist is currently the Governor of Florida? Seems to me someone in Florida voted for the guy! The GOP establishment is backing him because he is a proven voter getter. This isn't rocket science. I am no expert on Florida politics, but I hardly see the state as some hardcore conservative place like Utah or Kansas. It is more representative of the country overall. Look, if you think this guy Rubio is so terrific, he is only 38. He has plenty of time. Being the cynic I am, I have to believe some of the social conservatives objecting to Crist might be the gay rumors that have plagued him. Look, the guy married a woman, what else do conservatives want?

Charlie Crist stood right along side of Obama, in support of Obama's asinine stimulus package. Charlie Crist in the Senate is another vote for the Democrats.

We NEED for this man to represent us in the U.S. Senate. If Charlie Crist is elected, we might as well send another liberal Democrat. If you are willing to back Marco Rubio, go to his website and sign up to support him. If you can possibly do so, make a contribution. I donated $25 and will do so again with each payday. PLEASE, let's not allow Charlie Crist to go to Washington.

Marco Rubio is a dream Republican candidate. I hope the Republican primary voters send a message to the NRSC and Washington, DC to stay out of their business by voting for Rubio over Crist, then over whoever his Democratic opponent is!

Marco will get my vote. Charlie Crist can be blamed for Obama being president right now and all the damage Obama will do. Crist's endorsement of McCain a few days before the Florida primary was the main reason why McCain won Florida and got momentum for Super Tuesday and we all know what happened after that. Had Crist kept his mouth shut, Romney might have been nominated and beaten Obama.
