Reporter Detained Near Air Force One Claims Gift of Prophecy, Healing

Brenda Lee, a reporter claiming to have White House credentials, was forcibly removed from a secure area at LAX after she tried to give the President a letter yesterday urging him to take a stand for "traditional marriage":

"I said, 'I'll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,'" said Lee. "He became annoyed that I wouldn't give him the letter."

Lee said she protested when she was asked to leave.

"I said, 'Why are you bothering me?' They escorted me outside the gate," she said. She said security officers allowed her to return when she promised she would not yell or wave, but then other officers arrived and told her to leave.

"I said, 'I'm not leaving,'" she said. "They tried to drag me out."

Two officers then picked her up and carried her out.

Lee writes for The Georgia Informer. At the paper's website, Lee has written several articles decrying gay marriage. In one, she claims (in the 3rd person) some pretty impressive bon fides:

On what grounds does Rev. Lee speak for GOD?

Her credentials out weigh that of Benedict XVI and every other Christian, or religious leader in the world. They have not heard the VOICE of GOD and they do not have the gift of prophecy or healing. None are willing to meet her face to face and call upon the name of GOD, as of the days of old because they know that she ranks with John the Baptist and Saint Peter.

In another article,she posits that the gays will not stop until they destroy America:

Gays represent a small percentage of the population, but they are powerful church leaders, politicians, judges, and movie executives. For the most part they are white males who have sexed themselves out on perverted sex and they are never satisfied. They will keep pushing for more and more sexual freedom (which include sex with children) in search of sexual gratification until they lead America to destruction unless they are stopped.

This would explain her support for Proposition 8:

Californians will vote Yes on Proposition 8 to establish marriage between a man and woman or they will go down for their wickedness. In November voters all over the United States should demand that its political leaders reconfirm that the United State is a GOD fearing country or it will move closer to becoming a Third World Country. GOD will bring this country to its knees via natural disasters that will turn into financial disasters.

I have to admit, when I first heard about this story, I thought it was a stunt by gay marriage activists, designed to make opponents of marriage equality look crazy. Apparently, though, Ms. Lee is the real deal.

Some right-wing blogs are spinning this (albeit lightheartedly) as the Obama administration "crushing dissent." However, we obviously can't have people trying to hand the President envelopes after refusing to allow them to be inspected. Don't these guys watch 24?
