Sotomayor In The Tank: What Her Tank Top Photo Reveals

WASHINGTON -- Listen up, Woman Uppers. I'm curious about your take on a picture of Sonia Sotomayor in a tank top that the White House released. Here's mine:


The messageers at the White House assembled a packet of photos of President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, in order for the nation to get to know better the New York federal appeals court judge.

Part of her "story" is that she is down-to-earth. Showing is better than telling. One photo in particular reinforces the White House storyline.

The snap is of Sotomayor at a baseball park. She's with two young boys. She's wearing a tank top with a bit of her bra peeking out and a jacket tied around her waist. She's also sporting a hunk of a bracelet watch and a big purse.

So what got me was the tank top. A tank top -- especially this number with horizontal stripes -- screams "everywoman" to me. And Every Woman is a pretty good image.
