Capitol Hill Bureau Chief
Tomorrow, Judge Sonia Sotomayor will begin the time-worn process of going to the offices of the members of the Senate who hold her fate in their hands. Love her or hate her, they won't be able to say they never met her.
Here is Sotomayor's schedule for her first round of meetings, starting tomorrow:
*Majority Leader Harry Reid
*Republican Leader Mitch McConnell
*Senator Patrick Leahy, chairman of the Judiciary Committee
*Senator Jeff Sessions, ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee
*Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin
*Assistant Republican Leader Jon Kyl
*Senator Chuck Schumer, senior senator from her home state of New York
*Senator Orin Hatch, a senior Republican on the Judiciary Committee
*Senator Dianne Feinstein, a senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee
*Senator Kirstin Gillibrand, the junior senator from New York.
Who's not in the first round? Sen. Arlen Specter, who was the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee until he switched parties last month. Specter is now the most junior Democratic member of the Senate, and of the Judiciary Committee as well.
