Sonia Sotomayor's brother Juan Sotomayor vigorously defended his sister this morning on ABC's "Good Morning America," calling accusations that she is a racist "the most insulting, derogatory, off-base comments that I've ever heard about a person. This is not the person that they're describing."
Asked if he is angry about attacks on his sister (pictured here with their mother Celina), he said, "Angry is just the beginning of the emotions I feel."
Looking back on the interview, ABC's Claire Shipman said Sotomayor became so defensive of his sister, "I thought he might jump out of his seat."
Among other things you'll learn from the interview: Juan Sotomayor is a doctor, he calls his sister, "tough as nails," says she "likes to party," and was pretty excited she got a free ticket to Washington when her nomination came up. "She's on a budget," he said. "We're not Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."
