David Letterman vs. Sarah Palin, Round 2
Yesterday, I wrote about the sudden flare up of a feud between David Letterman and Sarah Palin. In brief, Letterman made a few off-color jokes about the Alaska governor's recent trip to New York City. Palin, and her husband, Todd, took offense and responded in the press and via the web, denouncing Letterman as "pathetic."
Well, on last night's show, Letterman did not shy away from the controversy. Here's what he had to say about it:

I have no desire to watch a Pervert and that is exactly what Letterman is, a Liberal Pervert. He should not be around women or children without supervision. He is also gutless. Why no jokes regarding Michelle Obama and the Obama children?

Look Uncle Joe, Letterman is a gutless pervert who is afraid of the Obama Administration just like you! If he can make jokes regarding Sarah and her children, why not the Obama children and Michelle? This is a liberal versus conservative issue and the liberals are just too weird! Letterman and Barney Frank would make a good duo!

David, the jokes were not only tasteless and crass, but downright offensive. The Palin's, however, smacked him down bigtime. Not only have they refused his offer to appear on his show to give him a ratings boost, but also suggested they wanted to keep their daughter away from a "pervert" (this isn't the word they chose...they were much more polite).
Mr. Letterman will pay dearly for this joke.

I believe Mr. Letterman needs to fire the writers of the show. His dialogs, of so called jokes, have been down right obnoxious. Mr. Letterman and or writers belong on the Jerry Springer show if you get my drift. Not only are you not funny but you are not even entertaining. If you go to noquarter.net it will list the sponsors as well as contacts at CBS. Make the call before 2:00 PM - after that you leave a voice mail. Send this information to at least 10 other people and ask them to call and send letters to the sponsors also. Perhaps they will get the message.

Thanks for cutting through the noise and focussing what the Republican's real assault on Letterman is. All those other posters, pseudo-conservatives, complaining about the substance of Letterman's "jokes".
But not you! You cut right to the real heart of the issue: Letterman's personal physical appearance. How brave you are. How insightful. How instructive about the Republican real viewpoint.

Governor Palin's fake outrage at David Letterman is laughable. Here is a woman who calls herself "barracuda" and had no problem calling Barack Obama every vile name in the book when she ran on the Presidential ticket last year. David Letterman is a late-night comedian, not a politician. He is not beholden to Governor Palin or any politician. Presidents and members of Congress have been the target of late-night comedians for decades. Sarah Palin is simply milking this "controversy" for all it is worth to draw attention to herself and do what she does best: whip up a frenzy among the hard-line base of the GOP. However, someone needs to tell her those folks will already vote for her should she run in 2012. Too bad no one else will.

I have not heard you suggest that any equally poor tast jokes about the O'Bama kids would be OK. I agree! palin will probably show up on David's show because that would put her face back on TV and keep her in the eye. I've always been a Republican. McCain thought so little of Dave & his show last year, that he blew him off. Why should Palin be so concerned a night show that means so little to them?

David- you are definately an idiot. No one could ever justify the tasteless and hurtful statements Letterman made. Liberals are just plain afraid of well spoken, intelligent individuals and can only fight back by being insulting and hateful. By the way, I never heard Palin say anything vile about Obama or his family. Just because someone has a difference of opinion doesnt make them vile. The real problem is Letterman. He holds a position of power in the media and he abuses it. Lets see how he would react if someone said things on national tv about his girl friend and out of wedlock child.
