Capitol Hill Bureau Chief
In a bizarre story, the governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, has not been seen in days by his wife, his Lt. Governor, nor his staff, but none seem concerned, according to the
Associated Press. When asked of her husband's whereabouts, the AP writes, "First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn't know where. She said she was not concerned. Jenny Sanford said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something."
More to come on this, so stay tuned, Caps...
UPDATE: And the update is the lost governor has been found, sort of. Sanford's spokesman told the AP last night that the governor is hiking the Appalachian Trail, "to kind of clear his head after the legislative session," although he was not precisely certain about where on the 2,200-mile trail he is.
The Capitolist understands that everyone needs a vacation now and then, but why all the secrecy, people?
