Boehner: This Congress Like 'Standing in Front of a Machine Gun'

Just weeks into his presidency, President Obama began fielding criticism that his administration may be trying to do too much too soon.

Today in the Capitol, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) complained that the Democratic Congress is trying to do too much on its side of Pennsylvania Avenue, too.

"Being in Congress this year has been like standing in front of a machine gun," Boehner said in reaction to Sen. Harry Reid's statement that he would like the Senate to pass immigration reform this year. "Whether it's the stimulus bill, the omnibus appropriations bill, whether it was the trillion-dollar deficits as far as the eye can see in the budget, whether it was taking over a health care system, a national energy tax, and now somebody is going to suggest we're going to do immigration reform in the midst of all this? How much is enough?"

As to whether immigration reform would pass this year, Boehner added, "Put me in the doubtful column."
