The early deaths of 1970's icon Farrah Fawcett and pop star Michael Jackson on Thursday unleashed enough entertainment-industry headlines to almost make us forget the name Mir Hossein Mousavi.
But lest Hollywood tabloid overshadow the uppity Woman Up women's summer preference for political tabloid, I'd like to note the following: South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford said he had his "own ticket" to Buenos Aires last week to attend to his sacking of the woman now identified as Maria Belen Chapur. But on the chief executive's previous visit last June, he took advantage of a bookkeeping technicality that allowed Sanford, famous for his "extravagant parsimony," to bill the South Carolina treasury. Last June's trip was for an official Commerce Department meeting, and Sanford has announced he will reimburse taxpayers for the portion of it deemed recreational.
