Guten tag, Capitolists! German Chancellor Angela Merkel is in town today, and so is half of your fearless Congress.
The House is hard at work fighting it out over the climate change bill, while the Senate sits silent, having wrapped up its business for the July 4th recess. Must be nice, Senate, must be nice.
Anyhoo, while we're keeping an eye on cap 'n trade and Frau Merkel, why don't you keep an eye on what else is happening in Washington today....
9:00 a.m.: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi meets with Chancellor Merkel.
10:30 a.m.: Republican Leaders John Boehner, Eric Cantor and others hold a press conference on the climate change bill. Expect discussion of a last minute amendment from the Dems filed at 3:00 this morning.
10:30 a.m.: President Obama meets with Chancellor Merkel at the White House.
11:00 a.m.: A group of kids who promise they'll be "dancing with gigantic green hard hats" holds a rally in front of the White House for green jobs and climate change legislation."
11:30 a.m.: President Obama and Chancellor Merkel hold a joint news conference at the White House.
Bis später, Caps!
