Executive Producer
Hope everyone enjoyed their Independence Day celebrations. My family and I enjoyed the fireworks from the roof of our Brooklyn apartment and I came THIS close to getting a three-day weekend if it were not for
a certain pesky Alaskan governor, who needed to make a dramatic and confounding announcement.
It's good to be back, though, and here, as always, are your Politics Dailies:
If you can't wait until tonight to see what Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have to say about Sarah Palin's announcement, check out the work by Dennis DiClaudio and Mary Phillips-Sandy over on Comedy Central's Indecision Blog.
Or alternately,
Ann Coulter has some pretty funny things to say on the subject.
Are
lobbyists really the problem with our democracy?
As unfunny as
racial slurs always are, I bet they're even less funny if they destroy your career. FYI, there is no right to privacy expected between a rising politician and her Facebook friends.
At least
China has faith in the U.S. dollar!
Did you miss a July 4th Tea Party, or are you currently drafting a letter to AOL to tell us all what horrible commie scum we are for not covering them (
we did)? Well
Chris Regal has some great links to some citizens-eye reports of the events.
R.I.P. Robert McNamara.

Our New Approach to Comments
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers –
a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
