I'm glad P. Kennedy is back after another Relapse of his addiction. However, how many 3rd or 4th chances does this whiney, crybaby Kennedy get?? I know that in the "real world" companies support employees as they struggle with addictions. They will pay for treatment and hold one's job. They won't pay for a second and you lose your job if you cannot stay sober. Only in Congress can you get away with everything under the sun and still have a job. Time for new leadership all around. They have all been at the trough too long.

In we alkies, our kidneys break down alcohol into water and sugar and a little something extra, a chemical that travels to the brain. It sets of a brain-chain reaction creating a strange little number nicknamed 'THIC'. THIC is the chemical of addicting to 'more of the same', whatever your game is. They have found THIC in test monkeys 7 years after stopping giving them alcohol so it probably hangs around in our heads forever, explaining the relapse factor in alcoholism. What is really interesting to me is the question of how people who could produce brain THIC evolved out of the early history of humans. I suspect the ones who could eat compulsively to store body fat, without throwing up, when food made itself available, were the ones whose gene pools survived. And here we are, happy little addicts.... to everything. Right now I love Peet's Major Dickson coffee. At least its not scotch.

If you are intelligent, well balanced, you don't play with drugs. If you don't play with drugs, you don't get addicted.

n an earlier incident, on April 15, 2006, Kennedy was driving a Ford Crown Victoria registered to the "Friends of Pat Kennedy Inc" on Turnpike Avenue in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. As Kennedy attempted to turn left into a CVS parking lot, his vehicle struck a Nissan Maxima driven by off duty Coast Guard warrant officer Thomas Guthlein who was attempting to make a right turn into the same parking lot. Portsmouth Rhode Island police did not issue a citation to either driver. One woman who witnessed the accident has expressed her opinion that Kennedy was impaired, but this has never been proven. Kennedy's handwriting on the police report was messy.[ Guthlein is quoted in the New York Daily News as saying 'I never really got that close to him ... It was just a regular traffic accident."
