Good morning, Capitolists! A relatively slow day in your nation's capital with one huge twist. Read on to see what's happening in Washington Friday . . .

* All day: The Senate is in session, but has no votes.

* All day: President and Mrs. Obama are traveling overseas.

* All day: The National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention is in town at the Marriott Wardman Park. Fashion show is at 3:30 p.m., "Barbie Goes Traveling" dinner is at 8 p.m.

8:30 a.m.: The president participates in the G8-plus-Africa meetings in L'Aquila, Italy.

9 a.m.: General Motors holds a press conference to announce it is emerging from bankruptcy.

10 a.m.: House Republicans hold a press conference on "The Failure of the Stimulus to Create Jobs."

10 a.m.: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds a town-hall meeting at the State Department on the U.S. strategic approach to diplomacy.

10 a.m.: House members hold a press conference to condemn Chinese oppression of the Uighurs.

4:40 p.m.: The Obama family has an audience with Pope Benedict XVI.

Evening: President and Mrs. Obama travel from Italy to Ghana.
