The best quote of the Sotomayor hearings so far comes courtesy of Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Republican from South Carolina who was once a JAG officer in the Air Force.

After delivering that bon mot, Graham said that he is inclined to vote for Sotomayor out of deference to the president, because, "My inclination is elections matter."

If Sotomayors record from 93' to 98' is brought to bare as a judge(and it should!)she is in fact, the RIGHT pick! The stats alone prove she has what it takes!

"Meltdown," huh? In all the years I've been listening to these posturing senators, I don't recall the absolute rudeness and chauvanism displayed by the South's Sen. Graham. A hundred years ago, he would have said, "unless you go hysterical" with this female nominee. And what's with detailing the resume of a male hispanic judge who is not a nominee? Is it too much to ask that republican senators on this judiciary commitee stick to the task at hand--honestly and fairly evaluating federal Judge Sotomayor--and suppress their inclinations to insult and dismiss the female nominee.

Either you are too young, stupid, or have selective memory. Kennedy, Biden, and most of the Democrats couldn't have been more rude at the Bork, Thomas, and Alito hearings. The double standards just go to show just how phony the Radical Liberals are!

i'm watching the sotomayer "hearing" right now. why is our tax money being wasted? this thing has been on for about 3 hrs. and sotomayer hasn't said a word. al franken just said, "after meeting with you in my office", the man can't even find his office. sotomayer is sitting there thinking "i could be home watching this on t.v" i don't think there is enough room up sotomayer's a** to fit all the dem heads. this is the biggest sham i've ever seen (next to the "stimuls package")

I have to agree that these court hearings are a waste of time. The Senators simply use the time to politically grandstand (ugh!) and use the time as free time to run for re-election. Both sides are pandering to the base of their respective parties, and never shut up. The bottom line is -- barring some miracle -- Sotomayor will get and up or down vote in the Senate, and Democrats now hold 60 seats. It also stands to reason Sotomayor will peel off a few Republican votes, the two female Senators in Maine as an example. Does anyone honestly believe two female Republican Senators from liberal Maine will vote against Sotomayor? I think not.
What a bunch of nonsense.

Sen Graham is a disgrace to both SC and the America justice system. For him to endorse a rcaest women who has demonstrated complete disregard for the Constitution is in itself an abomination. I would suggest that graham go the way of arland spector!

Elections may matter for Sen. Graham if he keeps up this left preference ideology. His constituancy may decide his left leaning tendencies equate to be a Yankee traitor and kick him out!

Of course it's all a sham. Every senator sitting there decided how he was going to vote before he even met her. That's how congress works. Usually when someone is making a speech to go into the congressional record, there are about ten other people there, and they are talking among themselves. They make decisions in committee meetings, by what they see on TV and by how they can make it work out best for them and their party, occasionally even for their country. But, there is no actual debate in the chambers. That's just there for grandstanding.

We already got stuck with Spector, just how much of your trash do you expect us to collect? Seriously, Spector occasionally had a logical thought, but we are not interested in Lindsey Graham. He's so far right, he'd make a good running mate for Sarah Palin.

I honesty believe there should be an age limit and a compentency test given to 95% of the Senator's. It is truly an embarrassment to our nation to listen to these idiots. Apparently they have never heard themselves speak!
Such a waste of taxpayer's time.

We all Conservatives are Independence from Obama.
So,You Liberals can have YOUR OBAMA.
We don't want him. And you can have California and Massachusetts and Oregon and other Liberal States.
