The White House has decided that private companies deemed "too big to fail" need to be policed by a supercop, and the White House is recommending the Federal Reserve play the role.
And who in Congress has been chosen to lead the task for drafting legislation for such a supercop?? None other than slobbering Barney Frank.
This legislation, according to tax cheat Tim Geithner will include an "aggressive" package of reforms for the financial industry. That includes a fundamental overhaul of how the industry pays its senior executives. In other words, those evil bonuses will be a thing of the past.
This is a massive proposed increase in the control privately-owned businesses by government. But I don't have to tell you that, do I?
What you may not know, however, is what you call this type of economic system --- a system where business is owned privately but owned by the government. The word would be Fascism.

You've got it backwards. You wrote: "What you may not know, however, is what you call this type of economic system --- a system where business is owned privately but owned by the government. The word would be Fascism."
I hate to break it to you, but the corporations aren't owned by our government. Rather, our government is owned by the corporations (see opensecrets.org). Understanding that distinction makes all the difference in the world, and only serious campaign finance reform can change it.

I love the way you phrase the question, so biased and liberal of you. How about should we have bailed them out in the first place? Everyone is still losing homes and jobs and credit.... Yet you tax and spend dimwits are still throwing other peoples money at them....."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." Everyone send that Margaret Thatcher phrase to atleast one liberal moron that you know, and we all know atleast one.

I love it when a Republican says "tax and spend liberals". It really cracks me up, because it points out that the Republicans are the "borrow and spend" party.
As much as they talk about personal responsibility and not living beyond your means, they sure don't govern that way. Ronald Reagan TRIPLED the national debt, borrowing more money than all presidents before him (from George Washington to Jimmy Carter) combined! Bush borrowed more than he did, and he did it with a Republican Congress, so don't use a Dem Congress under Reagan as any kind of excuse.
Clinton left a surplus and 0 wars for Bush, Bush left 2 wars and a failed economy for Obama (leading to more spending, much of which I disagree with by the way, but at least he has some kind of reason for it).

Trusting banks is akin to trusting a hungry wild rabid animal. I will start to trust them again when they start giving decent interest on accounts, stop charging outrageous ATM fees and give out blenders

People who are commenting that we are going facist need a dictionary. We are becoming an Aristocracy of the rich. At least facists give employees a chance to progress. PS It is true that Nazis where Fascists, but not all facists are Nazis. Italian facists where not racists.

The answer choices don't go with the question! It is a ridiculous poll! If you are going to have a poll at least give us more clear cut answers! My answer would be: we have done enough for the banks, if they fail, it is their problem! So many of these bail outs have been going back to their old ways and thumbing their noses at their benefactors! If they aren't restructured and just go back to the old failing ways, of COURSE they will fail! The bail outs were most likely used (again) by the CEOs, and upper management as their "severance" money, and will do fine while their companies tank! We have all kindsof little Bernie Madoff's running these banks and investment firms and insurance companies! The greed that has been going on in these companies must be just beyond belief! Health insurance companies get monthly premiums, and when the customer actually has to use the benefits, the insurance company dumps them! Investment companies churn the customer's investments making profits for themselves while leaving the investor broke! The banks (thanks to BUSH) were deregulated so that they could pull all kinds of unethical (but legal!) tricks to take as much money away from the customer as possible in service charges (manufactured) overdrafts, and (falsely) bounced checks! Wethe consumer have been fleeced and victimized by these companies and "institutions" for so long that we are TIRED OF IT! We have been CONNED and ABUSED FOR TOO LONG! We no longer TRUST them! They know we don't have the money, or the power to FIGHT BACK! I don't feel sorry for the car companies OR their employees! They KNEW the axe was going to fall someday soon! Why didn't the car companies make a better car? More hybrids, electric? Is it because the OIL companies said NO? The writing was on the wall for the car companies, why didn't they plan better for the inevitable future? Why didn't the employees train for other work, or professions, knowing that their jobs HAD to be gone one day? Heck, you can even get a degree ONLINE! Everyone just sat back with the status quo, and figured a miracle would happen,or the government would save them again! How many times do you have to hit your finger with the hammer before you wise up enough to move it out of harm's way? This is the US where we make our OWN destinies, but somehow these banks, and big companies never moved out of Mom and Dad's garage, and think they will always get them to pay the bills, while other people grow up and did for themselves! How much did the banks care if they foreclosed on us? Did it bother them that people were losing everything because of their ARMS and sneaky clauses that insured the failure of the borrower? Are we REALLY supposed to feel kindly toward CON ARTISTS and cry when THEY FAIL? Are we a country of Stockholm Syndrome VICTIMS? We have been so mistreated and held captive by our oppressors that we have become loyal to them and help them, even though they hurt us and kept us under their thumbs? Even our government has been taken in by the importance these "institutions" have made us feel they are! I say let the let those vampires FAIL! They have sucked the American people dry, and now they need to understand how it feels! As far as I am concerned: all of these crook banks and companies need to all go to PRISON for their scemes! I mean really, how different are they from Bernie Madoff? He is the poster child and scapegoat for all that has gone wrong with this country! He did what they have been, and ARE doing to us, but because he is one person, he is easy to hold accountable! He has a lack of remorse, but do you ever see a mortgage company cry over the suicide of a homeowner who kills himself because he has lost everything?

Obama and CRONIES outlaw individual private Health care coverage.
Americans are hurting and are finding little solace or direct action that is affecting their accelerating downward spiral. Those who have been financially responsible keep getting handed the bill for those who were not.
STOP giving money to wall street. Those who live by the sword, die by the sword. Want to see stimulus money get into the economy faster? Give it to local banks to LEND to local businesses if you want to see new business growth and new jobs. Local banks know local needs and the local community leading to local suppliers for business, local jobs, etc., etc. There are lots of entrepreneurs with great ideas. Not everyone can be a road worker, Americans were happiest and most productive when we MADE STUFF. Develop a manufacturing based economy again. Dump unfavorable trade agreements, the time is past to bring equity to world markets by decimating our own. Please DO NOT give one thin dime to ANY company sending jobs overseas while taking taxpayer money.
We're tired of being the patsy's. We're tired of being "represented" in Washington by people who don't represent us. We're tired of working and getting nowhere. We're tired of lies, deceit, and dirty deals. THE WELL IS DRY. Someone has to realize that we have precious little left to give.

you phrase your questions in order to get the answers you want. if you are honest, add another choice. One that makes a little sense. Yes or no We can trust them or to big to fail has no real choice. To bail out or not to bail out is a better option. I say thumbs down! no to cap and trade, and american government has no right to own any bank or corp. or company.

... what we want is for America not to fail, for 'change' to mean something other than what little is left in our pockets. Obama, with his alliances like ACORN, seems to only be concerned about expanding the lies we know as Chicago politics ... in every corner of his 'CZAR' governement. The Feds have screwed up every business they have been involved in ... now they want to control them all ... greed on one side, ineptitude on the other, and we the people are suffering for it now, and thanks to your Obamanation, in the future.

Obama Turning American Dream Into A Nightmare
These are dire times for the United States of America. Never before in my 30 years in Washington have I seen so much critical legislation that will negatively affect our children and grandchildren’s futures rammed through Congress. The majority of the American people, especially our youth, do not know the ramifications that the Obama “Cap and Tax” energy plan and socialist healthcare system will have on them. I don’t think it is any coincidence that Obama is trying to pass this legislation during the summer, when the American people are least tuned in to Washington politics.
Obama knows his approval numbers are falling. He also knows that he will not likely see such an overwhelmingly Democrat majority in Congress again while he is president. Because of this, the Administration knows this is its best chance to sign into legislation laws that would systematically turn our society into a European-style socialist welfare state. If passed, these laws would be difficult to repeal and would have a harmful impact on the country for years to come. If you think I’m exaggerating, today’s Wall Street Journal editorial highlights what will happen if the Obama Administration has its way. Here are some of the main points.
How does Obama plan on paying for his socialized medicine? More taxes. The healthcare bill calls for a huge new income surtax. With Obama’s proposals, the top marginal federal tax rate would rise to 47% or 48%, from the current 35%. This would be one of the largest increases in history.
The average top combined state-federal marginal tax rate would hit 52%. This rate would be higher than all but three (Denmark, Sweden, Belgium) of the 30 countries measured by the OECD. At least five U.S. states would have higher marginal rates than Sweden.
Despite these tax increases, the Democrats will still be $300 billion short of the financing they need. The House bill is able to pay for seven years of spending with nine years of taxes. Andy Laperriere of the ISI Group estimates that in 2019 alone the bill would add $95 billion to the deficit.
Despite a 9.5% (and rising) unemployment rate, Democrats want to impose a new eight percentage point payroll tax on employers who don’t provide health insurance for their employees. This is in addition to the current 15% payroll tax, and the new 2.5% “fine” on individuals who refuse to buy health insurance. What this means is that any employer with a payroll of $400,000 dollars or higher will have to pay at least 25% above the salary just to hire someone.
Add to this the fact that yesterday Mr. Doug Elmendorf, director of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, came out and said Obama’s healthcare “savings” claims are an illusion.
Now even liberals are starting to admit that ObamaCare can’t be paid for by just taxing the “wealthy.” USA Today quotes William Gale of the liberal Brookings Institution as saying, “We cannot do this on the backs of the rich,” and Robert McIntyre of the leftwing Citizens for Tax Justice, who said, “At some point, you just can’t squeeze them [top earners] anymore.” It won’t be long before Obama, like Bill Clinton, demands that everyone “pay their fair share.” As Margaret Thatcher once said, “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”
I cannot stress to you how important these coming days are in our country’s history. Here’s what you can do: Please talk to your children, grandchildren or any younger Americans you know about what Obama is trying to do and how it negatively affects their futures. Many of these Americans have no idea what is going on now in Washington. It would be a crime for them not to be able to live in the America we all grew up in, enjoy the same freedoms, opportunities and prosperity, where hard work and achievement was rewarded, rather than punished with confiscatory taxes. We must act now to prevent Obama from turning the American Dream into a nightmare.
Islamic Supremacist Groups in the U.S.
A group called Hizb Ut-Tahrir with ties to 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and one-time leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi will be holding a conference this weekend at a Hilton hotel right outside of Barack Obama’s old stomping grounds, Chicago. The conference theme is “The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam.”
Walid Phares, director of The Future of Terrorism Project at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, described the group as “one of the oldest, largest indoctrinating organizations for the ideology known as jihadism.” He stressed that unlike Al-Qaeda, which trains individuals to carry out attacks, this group indoctrinates children between the ages of 9-18 in hateful jihad rhetoric.
The group’s mission is to form a new Islamic caliphate or empire that will rule according to Islamic law, and the group condones any means to achieve it, including violence. That this meeting is being allowed to take place on American soil is a scandal. But Obama is too busy apologizing for America to notice, and the Democrats who dominate Capitol Hill are too busy investigating the alleged crimes of Dick Cheney and the CIA to care.

Getting Noticed
We’ve got two columns out today, and both are getting a lot of attention. In an op-ed today for Politico, Daniel Allott and I discuss an under-examined reason why Sarah Palin is loved and loathed so fiercely: It’s her intimate association with two of our most divisive issues, disability and the right to life. You can read (and comment on) our piece at: www.politico.com.
My weekly column received top billing on the Human Events website. In this piece, I condemn the Left’s politicization of our national security and the dangerous game politicians like Nancy Pelosi are playing with our lives. The Democrats’ attempts at political point-scoring will backfire. You can read and comment on my feature column at: www.humanevents.com.
