Obama's Poll Numbers Slipping

The rules have changed because of this economy. If you're looking for a great job, with a great company, with great benefits, that you will have your entire life, until you retire, stop looking. That was then this is now. That job doesn't exist anymore for 99% of us. Unless you have unique and remarkable skills you better figure out what will work best for you and your family. I am a former executive who left the corporate world to help people adjust to the new realities. My suggestion to most is to do what millions of people are doing now, find a good home business. That won't work for everyone but if you find one that you can get into for virtually no investment and learn the right skills, you should do well.

And even though he has had numerous sub-60% individual ratings in June and July, all of these have still exceeded the historical average of 55% job approval for presidents from Truman through George W. Bush.

Obama's 62% second-quarter average exceeds those for his immediate predecessors, George W. Bush (56%) and Bill Clinton (44%), but is similar to those for Presidents Nixon, Carter, Reagan, and the elder George Bush.

You can make statistics look as you want. So basically that doesnt mean anything. Facts are that the same "wealthy" you mention (including small business owners whose business "income" is reported as personal income)also pay about the same percentage of taxes (about 85%). And Obie wants to INCREASE that. And when the "wealthy" have to pay more taxes, how do they pay it? by either hiring less people or passing the price in the goods and services they provide. You say you want the "wealth" to be spread more evenly....spoken like a true socialist/marxist who has no economic understanding. As the minimum wages increase, the number of workers DECREASE and the others take home pay DECREASES, the amount of taxes paid to the government DECREASES. If you take minimum wage out of the equation and cut the taxes on small business...you will find that wages INCREASE, the number of people working INCREASE, taxes paid INCREASE, just like when Reagan did, which started the largest economic increase in history...which took bill clinton 6 years to destroy.
Its simple economics...people free to work for what they and their employer agree on...work better and the employer is more likely to pay higher wages. When you force emoplyers to pay a minimum....eventually productivity decreases and wages decrease.

Yes, we must reform healthcare now! The Republicans are following the money in their support of drug makers and private insurance companines. What about the 47,000,000 Americans who do not have health care? Who cares about those people? We are all just one job loss away from being uninsurered! Then what will we do? Will we end up using some king of twisted tax credit for insurance??

We have a wealth-concentrating machine. Our most valuable urban land is worth hundreds of millions of dollars per acre, and its appreciation doesn't get divided among all of us or shared much as tax revenue. Our natural resource revenues, except in Alaska, flow into private and corporate pockets. The value of electromagnetic spectrum -- the airwaves -- doesn't belong to the American people but to the media companies and their shareholders. The value of 8am LaGuadia airport landing rights doesn't belong to the American people but to American Airlines and their shareholders. Water revenues flow not to the American people but to private landgrabbers and their descendants.

All these things ought to be socialized. Their value is created by all of society, and rightly belongs to all of society, not to the lucky holders. Permitting the privatization creates that wealth concentrating machine.

You might look at the ideas of Henry George, in his speeches and two books available online: "Progress & Poverty" and "Social Problems" which speak very clearly to what we're experiencing today, and propose a wise, just, efficient and sustainable solution. Following his remedy would put us well down the road to solving some of our most serious -- and supposedly intractable -- problems.

Wake up America! Politicians do not create wealth! They only take it and produce nothing, but yet they are all millionaires.

We are all being fooled if we think that the middle class will not suffer from the current movement. Government growth is out of control and our countries deficit is escalating by the hour. How long do we all think that the magical money tree will last? How can people not see that we the people will have to pay for all this debt.

The healthcare reform should not be slammed through. It should be thought out carefully with the time needed by all involved. Hasnt anyone realized that the stimulas package was an extremely costly error. It stimulated nothing but excuses.

Maybe Mr. Obama and the rest of the politicians should be the first to sacrifice their extravagant life styles and live like the rest of us.

You forgot, the Islamic conference in CHICAGO, calling for Jihad and recruitment in the US against all who are not of the faith, and make this a country of ISLAM with its laws.

Granted, the current administration inherited a bad economy; however, they have made it much worse! This is not the change we had hoped for. They simply based their entire campaign on lies and most Americans fell for it. We need to replace all liberal Democrats at first chance! They should cut their salaries before they tax and spend more at the cost of American taxpayers.

I'll pass judgement in 2011. If he can get results by then I'll be hard pressed to come up with a reason to support him.
