Good morning, Capitolists! In addition to being the first day of the rest of Sarah Palin's life, it's Monday in D.C. It's because we love Washington so much** that we're telling you what's happening around the joint today . . .
* The House and Senate are both open for business, including private meetings for skull-cracking and arm-twisting by Democratic leaders on health care. Can anything good come from this unusual Monday work session? We'll keep you posted.
* The Chinese are in town to talk about how much money we owe them at the U.S.-China Strategic Dialogue. President Obama, Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner and other government honchos will huddle with China's second-in-command.
* The CDC holds the cleverly named "Weight of the Nation" conference on obesity in America today, tomorrow and Wednesday. The Capitolist will be there with our secret stash M&M's hidden in our laptop case.
* Attention FLOTUS watchers in Bowling Green, Va.: Michelle Obama will be in town to cut the ribbon on your new community health center.
* Finally, if you're free at lunchtime, check out Rep. Barney Frank's speech at the National Press Club. The speech starts at 1 p.m., but tune in for the unscripted, sure-to-entertain Q&A at 1:30.
** In case you missed it, below is Sarah Palin's farewell speech, when she tells her audience she's leaving Alaska's top job, because, "I love Alaska so much." Enjoy.
