Presumptive presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is offering fellow presumptive presidential candidate Sarah Palin some advice on how to situate herself for a political comeback that could, ironically, culminate in them becoming rivals in 2012. The former speaker of the House offered the former governor of Alaska his words of wisdom -- without any apparent malice or ulterior motive. Here, then (via
Politico), are Gingrich's top-six ways for Palin to get back in the game:
1. Write a book.
2. Land a regular commentator gig on television.
3. Consider getting a condominium in New York or Washington.
4. Write and master three types of speeches: One to "make money" that is "smart and entertaining"; another to deliver to interest groups and universities so that Palin can "project her brand"; and a third that can later be tailored into a campaign stump speech.
5. Create some sort of national project or center.
6. Plan on working really, really hard.
As yet, there's no word on whether Palin will take any of Gingrich's advice. Though Newt has himself been out of public office for a dozen years, he has remained a fixture on the political circuit, and has, at least, followed his own list. Whether these steps will lead to White House nirvana, for either Gingrich or Palin, remains to be seen.
