Does Barack Obama, the duly elected president of the United States, respect the Constitution? For many of Obama's critics, the answer is a resounding "No!" What evidence do the holders of this opinion put forth to defend it? Some argue the president has not provided a valid birth certificate. Others believe that he is overstepping the framers' intent by attempting to set up a government-funded health care plan. For many more, it's just a nagging suspicion born of cable television punditry and common sense.Witness footage from earlier Tuesday when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Obama's former presidential rival, addressed a town hall meeting in Sun City, Ariz. Asked by a woman whether Obama was even aware that "we still live under a Constitution," McCain rose to the president's defense. That didn't go over too well with the crowd. Watch:
For what it's worth, the U.S. Constitution can be easily accessed online, if anyone is wondering whether the stimulus package or the proposed health care legislation violate that sacred document.

Read The Constitution Article 1 section 8 that there shall be uniform laws on bankruptcies. Obama did not follow this in the bankruptcies of the auto industry when He moved the UAW above the bond holders.....I guess He needs his teleprompter to read The Constitution...........

Jeesh...are you aware that during the last administration (that you surely supported), bankruptcy laws were changed that makes it harder for the everyday person to file for an absolute bankruptcy? The new laws for you and me will not let you off the hook for your debts. Instead, you have to pay back money owed and you get to keep $100 per month over expenses. Every tax law professor in the country opposed this. For your uninformed information, business and corporations still can file absolute, where their indebtedness is wiped clean. SEEM FAIR TO YOU?? This is a clue as to how your blessed republicans SCREW you, and support big business cause they got the money! Don't be deluded.

Q: Do congressmen and senators receive health insurance from the federal gov.? If so is the premium for said insurance deducted from their salaries? If not are they taxed on it as additional income? Why are they insured by the federal government? Why can't they buy private insurance from the states they represent? They should be paid by the states that send them to Washington on a salary the residents of the state determine. They should not burden the federal taxpayer. Don't they have enough perks?

I have not thought of this.....having the states pay the freight. I like this idea, then the voters could vote on how much each person makes.......good idea and then we should make them admit that they are employees and subject to employee benifits and not what they feel is just

Members of congress are federal employees. The insurance they get (if they so choose) is the same plan available to ALL federal employees, such as FBI agents, IRS auditors, U.S. national parks rangers or postal workers. There is no specific health plan JUST for the congress. They do pay their own premiums and they can also purchase additional insurance if they so desire. My brother, a postal worker, has the same federal health care options as Senator Ted Kennedy.

Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it and whose members will be exempt from it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is broke.
What could possibly go wrong?

Nobie, did you know that exit polling shows that over 10% of the votes cast for Obama went missing? Funny how this issue was the worst in areas using electronic voting machines. 10% missing. And just what provision in the Constitution empowers the President to sit down behind closed doors and collude with Big Pharma to fix the prices of vital patented drugs? That is exactly what Obama is proudly claiming to have done: protect Big Pharma from price further pressures in return for early concessions. What business is it of the President, and where would be thw checks and balances, if God forbid, we ever had a less-than-ethical President?
