Tonight, we mourn the loss of an American giant -- the lion of the senate. I only wished he would have, had the opportunity to see his baby through -- Healthcare Reform.

And - How did he play his God-given part?

The Last of The Kennedy Dynasty

As soon as his cancer was detected, I noticed the immediate attempt at
the "canonization" of old Teddy Kennedy by the mainstream media. They
are saying what a "great American" he is. I say, let's get a couple
things clear & not twist the facts to change the real history.

1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was
expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a
classmate to cheat for him.

2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed
up for four years instead of two. Oops! The man can't count to four! His
father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up
from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during prohibition),
pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two
years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea , where a war
was raging. No preferential treatment for him! (like he charged that
President Bush received).

3.. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of
Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged. Imagine a person
of his "education" NEVER advancing past the rank of Private!

4. While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was
cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was
clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his
headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never
revoked. Coincidentally, he passed the bar exam in 1959. Amazing!

5. In 1964, he was seriously injured in a plane crash, and hospitalized
for several months. Test results done by the hospital at the time he was
admitted had shown he was legally intoxicated. The results of those
tests remained a "state secret" until in the 1980's when the report was
unsealed. Didn't hear about that from the unbiased media, did we?

6. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island
in Massachusetts . At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys
to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo
Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with
no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into
Poucha Pond.

7. He swam to shore and walked back to the party, passing several houses
and a fire station. Two friends then returned with him to the scene of
the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he
already knew - that he was required by law to immediately report the
accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel,
called his lawyer, and went to sleep. Kennedy called the police the next
morning and by then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying,
Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the
upside-down car.The Kennedy family began "calling in favors", ensuring
that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state
to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are
uncertain, but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under
the water trying to rescue Kopechne and he didn't call police because he
was in a state of shock. It is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he
held off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem
overnight. Since the accident, Kennedy's "political enemies" have
referred to him as the distinguished Senator from Chappaquiddick. He
pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a
SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small
payout from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. There was
later an effort to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her family
successfully fought against this in court, and Kennedy's family paid
their attorney's bills... a "token of friendship"?

8. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but
considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. He authored
or argued for legislation that ensured a variety of civil rights,
increased the minimum wage in 1981, made access to health care easier
for the indigent, and funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors
and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism". In his very
first Senate roll, he was the floor manager for the bill that turned
U.S. immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for
immigrants from third world countries.

9. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of every
expansion of an increase in immigration, up to and including the latest
attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Not to mention the pious
grilling he gave the last two Supreme Court nominees, as if he was the
standard bearer for the nation in matters of "what's right". What a
pompous ass!

10. He is known around Washington as a public drunk, loud, boisterous
and very disrespectful to ladies. JERK is a better description than
"great American". "A blonde in every pond" is his motto.

Let's not allow the spin doctors make this jerk a hero -- how quickly
the American public forgets what his real legacy is. Let's keep this
going for truth, justice and the American way!

Oh, brother. Tit for tat, I suppose, since the Kennedys supported the Obama presidency. What does Barack have to say about the Mary Jo homicide?

MY AUNT DID MORE FOR AMERICAN SOCIETY THAN KENNEDY EVER THOUGHT OF DOING. SHE RAISED 4 CHILDREN BY HERSELF. SHE WAS A DEVOUT CATHOLIC WHO ATTENDED DAILY MASS. SHE VOLUNTEERED FOR OVER 25 YEARS DAILY AT A SOUP KITCHEN FOR THE HOMELESS. SHE LIVED FRUGALLY AND WHEN SHE DIED SHE GAVE OVER $500,000 TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES. SHE WAS THE REAL AMERICAN SAINT, AND SHE NEVER ASKED FOR ANY RECOGNITION FOR HER ACTIONS, AND NEVER KILLED ANYONE....

The Obama camp will use this death to their very best advantage...oh yes they will! The polls are tanking, quick, lets find some way to divert attention and make me (Obama) seem like a "god" again, let me (Obama) do the only thing I can do kind of well...lull them ( the peasants ie: us) with my honeyed words, create once again the illusion of "my greatness"...feed them the "word koolaide"...all sugar and no substance. I am so sick of it and I think America is too. The Kennedy's are a far from perfect family. If the media had as free a rein as it does now in John Kennedy's time, I doubt his legacy would have fared so well. I give them my condolences on the death of their family member and loved one but to use this death for political gain (and they will use it) is just wrong on so many levels. Bleh!!!!!!!!!

Will Obama slip in his healthcare agenda? Maybe tell us how treating old Kennedy all these years served no purpose because he died anyway......see, see, see.......Obama is right! Old people do die anyway!

Will the Clinton's be there? Think Hillary will stick a hatpin in Ted to ensure the double crosser is really dead?

I also am saddened by Senator Ted Kennedy passing, a journey we all will face someday. The Senator was a true lion and stalwart leader for Liberal Democratic causes...He was also just a man, with faults...not a saint.
His Democratic ideals for the most part came from a time when Democrat meant something far different than what it is today.
There is no doubt in my mind that this current administration will use Senator Kennedy's legacy for all it is worth in pushing their agenda for The National Health Bill. What a perfect time, in a very sad way, for the ever ready opportunist Chicago machine to let a crisis/sadness such as this to pass. President Barack Obama, with all his political savvy..his eloquence and gift of speech will assuredly deliver all aspects of Kennedy's ideals in making his dream stay alive for the least among us. Now who and how anyone could oppose this idealism be seen in any positive light? No one. This will be a very difficult and delicate situation for any who oppose the Democrat National Health Bill.
My point is as it currently stands, this bill should not pass as it is, and in and on itself, Ted kennedy passing should not be used as a pawn to achieve more Government control into all our lives.

It is my hope, the majority of the American People see through the chosen words to be spoken at Senator Kennedy's Funeral...and the hype/play to follow by the mainstream media and administration that will surely come to pass...and the push for another massive government takeover of our health care in memory of Senator Kennedy.

I am appalled at the comments here in ref to someone who has passed on and one who has also given so much to his country. I think these are the people who are destroying the moral fiber of our country, as well as they know (diddly) about legislation -- otherwise, they would know Sen. Ted Kennedy. For example, there would be no COBRA healthcare coverage without Ted Kennedy...and many, many more.

It is sickening to think these are so-called countrymen. Yet they accuse President Obama of ruining our country, when in essence, it is they, who are disgracing every star and stripe of our flag.

God Bless the Kennedy Family. May they find solace in knowing that there are many of us who do love and appreciate every one of them for the numerous sacrifices, battles fought and family gifts – they have given the largest volume of service to our country from one single family, who has improved and enriched the lives of so many Americans and others globally from their tireless efforts and contributions to all mankind.

We thank you Kennedy Family. We love you Teddy.....we will deeply miss you, Sen. Ted. Kennedy. Your memory will be forever cherished within our hearts. As our nation mourns, your legacy will live on as a treasure to us; you are gone from our sight and touch; but never from our heart and memory.

he was known for his ability to work with Republicans and to find
compromises among Senate members with disparate views.

Kennedy played a major role in passing many pieces of legislation that
have affected the lives of all Americans, including the Immigration
and Nationality Act of 1965, the National Cancer Act of 1971, the
Federal Election Campaign Act Amendments of 1974, the COBRA Act of
1985, the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986, the Americans with
Disabilities Act of 1990, the Ryan White AIDS Care Act in 1990, the
Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act of 1996, the Mental Health Parity Act in 1996 and
2008, the State Children's Health Insurance Program in 1997, the No
Child Left Behind Act in 2002, and the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America
Act in 2009.

During the 2000s, he was a leader of several failed efforts at
immigration reform.

Over the course of decades, Kennedy's major legislative goal had been
enactment of universal health care, which he continued to work toward
during the Obama administration.

I would think that Caroline or someone who HAS BEEN AROUND this family would be delivering Mr. Kennedy's Eulogy.
