pete 5:20PM Sep 11th 2009 In 1993 al-Qaida came VERY VERY close to collapsing a WTC tower in the mid afternoon when it was FULL of people. We lost 2700+ people on 9/11 because it was early morning and people below where the plane hit had 45 minutes to an hour to get out. Had al-Qaida been successful in 1993 we could have EASILY lost 10 thousand people or more as 110 stories falling down in NYC, without warning, is going to land on something with ALOT of people in it.
NO DOUBT Bill Clinton was briefed on the bomb, its placement, al-Qaida's intentions with a bomb that size in that location and how many people they would have killed had they been successful.
Clintons "international police matter" policy had a few terrorist in an 8X8 cell and thousands upon thousands of Americans with big bulls eyes on their backs.
Al-Qaidia kept right on plotting and planing and attacking America during Clintons ENTIRE EIGHT YEARS IN OFFICE. Oh but the world loved us!!
Bush was in office for eight months, had made personnel changes but had yet to pass his own budget. On September 11th 2001 Bush was still working with what CLinton had left him. Far left loons hold Bush entirely accountable for not preventing in eight months what Clinton ignored for eight years.
So evidently liberal success in the war on terror according to dwilliamsamh, is to put a few terrorists in a 8X8 cell while their terrorist buddies continue to kill Americans by the score for years.
Successful al-Qaida attacks on the US while in office:
Clinton 5 (does not include Flt 800, just two days before Atlanta Olympics in 1996) Bush 1
Respectfully, Pete

Republicans and far right wingers just show how ignorant they are by voting for Bush in this poll... People that don't know how to reason shouldn't be taken seriously. It's literally a fact that Obama has kept us safer longer than Bush, this question unfortunately has an answer and is not really an opinion. So for future reference as well, all those people who voted for Bush in this AOL poll don't know how to think apparently and are blinded by emotion.

For a fair comparison to be possible, Bill Clinton would have had to precede both Bush and Obama.
The poll is idiotic.

Who ever said Bush kept us safe before 9/11 is seriously on crack. The people who said Bush kept us safe are obviously racist people who hate Obama no matter what.

Another poll question designed to blame Bush, and excuse obama. Of course we can't expect those who worship obama to be honest, even with themselves. Did Clinton drop the ball when it came to protecting this nation against terrorists? Yes, he did. Did Bush do everything he could to strengthen our defenses and defeat the terrorists? Yes, he did. Did Bush do everything right? No, he didn't. Has obama taken the threat seriously enough and reinforced the programs Bush put in place to fight the war against terrorism? Has apologizing and bowing to our enemies made us safer and stronger? Under the obama administration, is this nation on a runaway high-speed train heading toward bankruptcy which will make us an even weaker sitting target? Does it make a person a racist to ask these questions? I'm sure Alodena thinks so. I'm sure that Alodena is one of those people who are determined to accuse everyone who doesn't get a thrill up their leg whenever obama speaks, of being racists.

((((((( Obama's a Wuss ))))))))
French President Tells Obama:
)))))))))"We Live In The Real World" ((((((((((
Flopping Aces says that you know its bad when the French are tougher then the United States….what a change:
Sarkozy: "We live in the real world, not the virtual world. And the real world expects us to take decisions."
"President Obama dreams of a world without weapons … but right in front of us two countries are doing the exact opposite.
"Iran since 2005 has flouted five security council resolutions. North Korea has been defying council resolutions since 1993.
"I support the extended hand of the Americans, but what good has proposals for dialogue brought the international community? More uranium enrichment and declarations by the leaders of Iran to wipe a UN member state off the map," he continued, referring to Israel.
The sharp-tongued French leader even implied that Mr. Obama’s resolution 1887 had used up valuable diplomatic energy.
"If we have courage to impose sanctions together it will lend viability to our commitment to reduce our own weapons and to making a world without nuke weapons," he said.
Mr Sarkozy has previously called the US president’s disarmament crusade "naive."
These people who "feel safe" under Obama... are crazy. Psychiatrists must have a term for this syndrome they suffer from. I can think of "they drank the cool-aid", "stay away from the ether". Even Osama Bin Laden sees how "powerless" Obama is. He's also been identified as suffering from "Narcissistic" Personality Disorder by the world's leading expert. Wake up you people!!! Oh, why do I bother, they're clearly under his spell and have disengaged their own brains and intuition and and now part of his "group think"...It's like talking to a frigging wall.

Right ! It is amazing how right wing nuts FORGET that Bush and evil Cheney were warned several times that a major terror strick was likely, and they DID NOTHING, NO INCREASE IN SECURITY AT ALL !??!
Clinton increased security for Jan. 1, 2000 and we caught a few nuts. Bush and Cheney DID NOTHING !
If you think the ranting and mouth-foaming at town halls, or Rep. Wilson in Congress, is something you can imagine how they would have attacked a Democrat if HE HAD DONE NOTHING AFTER TERROR WARNINGS !?!!
But because Bush/Cheney were Republicans they tried to make them into hero's !?! The same guys who were afraid of Vietnam, in fact Bush was AWOL having wild parties while guys his age were losing their lives or arms and legs in Vietnam!
If that was not bad enough Bush/Cheney started the Unnecessary Iraq War, which has caused the Unnecessary Deaths of over 4,000 US troops, and serious wounds to over 31,000.
AND it was all on borrowed money, the GOP was too cowardly to ask Americans to actually pay for it! Wake up right wing nuts, YOUR war will cost a bundle! Not the $ 50 Billion it was promised, NOPE, after 30-40 years of interest it will be about $ 4,000 BILLIONS $$$$$$$$$
NOW you can get angry about taxes, the TAXES YOU HAVE BURDENED AMERICA WITH ! WE NEED AN IRAQ WAR SALES TAX, SO THAT WE ALL NEVER FORGET THAT WAR COST ONE HELL OF A LOT OF MONEY! BETTER YET, AN IRAQ WAR/FOX CHANNEL/REPUBLICAN SALES TAX, SO WE THINK OF WHO THE IDIOTS WERE THAT DID THIS EVERY DAY! HOW ABOUT IT REPUBLICANS? GOT THE GUTS TO PAY FOR YOUR WAR ?

Thank you. Come on people lets be real. Regardless of political preferences this poll is a no brainier. first 8 months of Bush thousands of Americans died. Under Obama, that hasn't happened. There's nothing further to think about. For now, the Obama administration has kept us safe an attack on our soil, a claim Bush couldn't make at this point in his Presidency. Thank you President Obama. Aol users are so conservative its ridiculous. Some people here would argue that Bush is younger than Obama if that was a poll. Lets all be reasonable to political issues as opposed to mindless party drones. Think hard about your vote if you actually said Bush did a better job, it just might not make sense after a review.

Oh but the summer of '01...not a care in the world. It was grand. Didn't have that nasty ol' Bill Clinton addressing the nation about terrorists or national security and scaring the bejeezus outta me. Once the Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision installed Bush as our rightful president, I knew this nation was on the right track! Tax cuts as far as the eye could see!! Anytime there was a problem, George Bush, responded with a tax cut. Of course along with 95% of Americans, I didn't get much money back, but I still thought that our country was over-taxed. Oh yeah, I'm sure you all remember when Cheney said "a little deficit was good." I guess, if a little deficit is good, then the huge deficit that we have now must be stupendous. Cause that's what we got, now. Sorry, that ain't Obama's fault. (Hell, people are still trying to blame 9-11 on Clinton, when Bush got warnings from intelligence agencies all over the world saying the US was going to be attacked. Bush was warned by the Mossad, German intelligence, and other countries' law enforcement agencies)Maybe some of the geniuses posting here would explain to me how we can wage two wars and give tax cuts out to the wealthiest and not have a huge deficit. And sorry, can't blame that on Obama nor can you blame the military troubles on Clinton. Clinton's military took out the Taliban in Afghanistan. Bush's leadership destroyed our military and country. General Shinseki testified to Congress BEFORE the invasion of Iraq that securing that country would take "several hundred thousand troops." Rumsfeld called his estimate "wildly off the mark." Weren't the oil revenues supposed to pay for the war with Iraq. Oops, guess you guys got suckered on that one too. Don't expect the so-called liberal media to clue you all in to where our country is going, they get paid good money to distract us by keeping us fighting amongst ourselves so the transnational corporations can whisk our money away, send our jobs overseas, and grant visas to foreign workers to come here and be exploited while driving citizens out of good-paying jobs. That's why they are always wanting to reform our immigration laws. A surplus of labor drives wages and working conditions down. "Ya want fries with that?" Better practice that because the good jobs ain't coming back.
