Weekend Film - 9/12: From Chaos to Community

As a New Yorker who was in the city on 9/11 (actually, on a subway right under the buildings when the first plane hit), the stories in the movie we are recommending tonight both inspire and humble me. I don't know a single New Yorker who didn't try to help in some way on that day, but the sacrifices most of us made come nowhere near those of the men and women in "9/12: From Chaos to Community," who dedicated 10 months of their lives to assisting the recovery effort.

The movie documents the experiences of several New Yorkers who were determined to find a way to help despite the physical, bureaucratic and cultural barriers. The volunteers reunite every year every year on the 11th to remember the work they did in the weeks and months following the attack, and to rekindle the unlikely sense of community that developed as a result.

Enjoy this inspiring film brought to you by our partners at Snagfilms.com.
