Police: ACORN Employee's Murder Confession Not 'Factual'

The police department in San Bernardino, Calif., where conservative activists filmed an ACORN employee confessing to the murder of her ex-husband, has issued a preliminary report saying the woman's claims "do not appear to be factual." The video, in which the now-familiar pair of undercover activists pose as a pimp and prostitute attempting to start a child prostitution ring, shows ACORN staffer Tresa Kaelke telling the camera she shot and killed her ex-husband. Kaelke, who claimed to have experience in prostitution, also offered her services if the investigators needed anyone taken out, saying, "I don't have a problem with that kind of thing."


But according to a report issued by San Bernardino Police Chief Keith Kilmer, police visited all of Kaelke's ex-husbands and found them "alive and well." They are investigating the case further, the report says, but based on the evidence, Kaelke's murder claim "do[es] not appear to be factual."

In the video, Kaelke says she feels like the prostitution scenario presented by the undercover filmmakers is a "total setup." ACORN issued a statement Tuesday evening saying that Kaelke did, in fact, suspect she was being set up and played along with what she believed was a false scenario.

"They were not believable," Kaelke said, according to the ACORN statement. "Somewhat entertaining, but they weren't even good actors. I didn't know what to make of them. They were clearly playing with me. I decided to shock them as much as they were shocking me. Like Stephen Colbert does -- saying the most outrageous things with a straight face."
