First Lady Michelle Obama on Friday will make a speech at a low-key event to bolster President Obama's push for passage of his health care overhaul. The White House said Mrs. Obama will "amplify" the president's message on the need for reform at an event featuring women and families impacted by the current system.
Unlike Obama's big public rallies to keep pressure on Congress -- at the University of Maryland at College Park today and last Saturday in Minnesota -- Mrs. Obama will stroll next door to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to deliver her remarks.
Mrs. Obama has been involved -- at her own pace, in her own way -- with helping Obama's health push since June, as Daily Flotus has been reporting.
Our New Approach to Comments
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers –
a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around.
