Paterson Defies White House Pressure Not to Run

RACISM!!!! Pure and simple. Do you think Obama would tell a white man not to run!!!
I think Jimmy Carter taught us all a valuable lesson. It is never about the issue. It is always about race, and more importantly, never look at the issue,,,,,always take the issue, wrap it in race and use it to your advantage. The thing I still can't figure out is if people like Carter, Maureen Dowd and others, who argued that Joe Wilson's comment was racist,,,,, I can't figure out if it is pure demagoguery or if they are just plain stupid. I am hoping that it is the former and that no one could be that stupid.
I would love to see Patterson play the race card and say that they are doing this because he is black.

How can you say Obama's decision was based on race? From all I've read on this topic, it seems like Obama's opinion on the matter was well calculated and well thought out. The race card seems to always be used as an excuse! Those who use the race card are just always looking to blame someone else for something they do not agree with. Those who use the race card are just nieve and in many cases being very pathetic. Race might be the issue on some cases, but too many people are using the race card for anything that they do not agree with. You wonder why racism exists? It exists because people like you keep bringing it up and doing your best to keep it alive.

Wow, the democrats must REALLY be scared. Picking on the blind black guy? Not very PC of them. LOL

So, Obama wants to tell New York who should run for Governor but he had no say as to whom shall fill his old Senate seat in Illinois.

Who gives Obama the right to tell someone not to run for office, he is beyond stupid, I still don't know how he was able to win because he's such a loser on everything. That gentleman has the right to run for whatever he wants, that's what freedom is all about, if I were Obama right now I would be ashamed, he has no right to tell someone to step down. I'm in fear for the next 3 years with his inexperience in everything. I know a lot of people are having 2nd thoughts about voting for him.

Obama better be thinking about not running himself as the citizen backlash against communists czars and his policies continue to grow.

Obama has enough on his own plate now than to be meddling in New York politics. Telling the governor not to run is the black pot calling the black kettle "black".

Rudy Juliani will be the next governor anyway and the bungling Obama is the greatest ally Juliani could hope for. Obama should tend to his own problems and butt out of something he knows nothing about.

The president, who seems to think he can tell Anyone what to do and not to do ALREADY! Hey, Mr President, you haven't got the right to tell ANYONE what to do, except maybe your children. WHY don't you wake up from you DREAM WORLD and start living in the REAL World? You aren't the RULER of the WORLD yet and with a few prayers and some SANE people, you NEVER will be.

Apparently Obama didn't listen to people telling him that he shouldn't run for president, unfortunately. He should mind his own business and stop telling others what they should do. The thing is, he wants to have as many black people in public office as possible. Maybe some day he will find out what the duties of a president are. He needs to get out of office and go play basketball someplace out of the U.S.of A.

Who is he to tell him not to run!! I live in NYS and as far as I know, we are a free state that its residents can do as they wish in the political arena. Really????? Get a life and a new health plan President Obama, and stay out of NYS politics. UNBELIEVABLE... I use to be democrat but recently changed to republican because of all the stupidity in the party. I read the health reform word for word and it will be very bad for the health plans already in place (ex, blue cross, indept. health) there are going to be a lot of jobs lost in that sector if this plan comes through because the government will offer the same thing for a lot lower and everyone will leave the other companies then, we will all be part of a socialistic medicine that we fought so hard to keep out of. The blind and nieve sheep will walk to the slaughter... that is how i feel a lot of time, every on has an opinion, no one does the background check to see what their opinion really should be... this also is NOT racially motovated as patterson is a legally blind black man.

Yep, no question about it. Obama hates blind, black men - even if they are democrats - if they don't have a white parent or two :-)

For a Democrat or Republican, decisions of a political party regarding a candidate are based on the belief of whether that candidate can or cannot win an election. If Patterson. a Democrat, loses (and he is not condidered popular or strong among his electorate) then he will lose an important governer's race to the Republican party....and that can frequently carry over into other elections, such as the House and Senate. This post is not about supporting one side or the other, it's simply a statement about how these decisions are reached. If an incumbant is seen to be losing his/her electorate, the his/her party would prefer that they stip aside. If they do not, then a more expensive and devisive primary will ensue.
