Three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is showing a stronger hand in a bid for re-election with a 49 percent to 39 percent lead over former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and a 46 percent to 37 percent lead over Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Sept. 23. The margin of error is 4.5 points.

In July, Boxer's lead over Fiorina was just four points.
Boxer is seen favorably by 51 percent of voters and unfavorably by 42 percent with 7 not sure. The biggest figures on this score for the two Republicans are the number of voters who don't know enough about them to have an opinion – 32 percent for DeVore and 33 percent for Fiorina. Those who see Boxer very favorably amount to 27 percent compared to 7 percent for DeVore and 8 percent for Fiorina.
