Only a minority of Arizona Republicans believe that GOP Sen. John McCain is doing a good job of representing the party's base, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Sept. 24.
Forty-six percent say he's lost touch with Republican voters, 36 percent say he's done a good job representing them and 17 percent are undecided. That said, 71 percent believe he will win re-election for a sixth term next year. McCain is seen favorably by 56 percent of voters and unfavorably by 43 percent.
Two Republicans have announced they will challenge McCain in a primary, according to the Arizona Republic: Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, and a political novice named Jim Deakin who owns a small business.
