what a damning indictment of the media at large that a guy who pretends to be a journalist gets it - that the Dems biggest problem is the inability to get out of their own way, that with their Congressional majorities, Dems can shoot down anything Repubs put forth.
How is it that Jon Stewart can see it, but the network alphabet soup, the major daily newspapers, and certain cable outlets cannot?

That just goes to show you that there are still some democrats that don't buy in to the liberal, leftist agenda. You can't ever expect Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln to vote the same way as Senator John Kerry. If she did, she wouldn't be representing her constituents now, would she?

The Dems aren't comedians who can lie like Jon and get a laugh. They know if they put a public option in their insane health care plan, that no one wants except poor lefties who don't pay taxes for it anyway, they will be voted out of office and sent to the hinterlands where they came from after they tried this Socialist nonsense the last time.
They need to lie better than Jon so people don't laugh at them and actually believe their lies - and they know it.

Fear. Straight-up fear. It's the only thing that keeps the GOP in business, and it's what's driving these idiot DINOS now. Between the wingnut freakshow we saw at the townhalls and the genuine threats from the insurance companies who bankroll these weasels ($3 million for Grassley alone,) these five are too scared to act. They're offered the chance to GUARANTEE insurance companies more customers, while offering a simple nudge - a public option - to keep them honest, and that's just too much for them. They, and posters like "daball" should all be given binkies and teddy bears.

I think that "failed to get anything", applies to John Dubya Wayne's war in Iraq. We're still paying trillions and losing thousands of young American soldiers, but like Afghanistan, those cities we "free" are falling to the Taliban the day after we leave. Dubya lied about WMD and the Afghan's/Iraqui's still prefer the feudal warlord system of government, a system that's been in effect for thousands of years. So, what's the point?

I think Glenn Beck wrote a book about you. Its called arguing with idiots. This whole story was about the Democrats inability to accomplish anything even though they have held the majority since 2006. But since you can't stay on topic, George Bush would never have been able to go to war without democratic support. George Bush then went against the majority in 2007 and pushed for the "surge" of troops in Iraq which led to the lowest levels of violence in Iraq since the start of the war. Thats what they call in the military a successful strategy. This then allowed the pentagon to set the dates for troop withdraw long before President Obama took office. As far as the price of the war, I agree it was costly in blood and treasure. But the money was spent over the course of 5 years under the Bush administration. In the first 6 months Obama has spent over that amount, He has failed to come up with a strategy for the war that he said was "the just war". Instead he is in Denmark plotting his strategy to have the Olympics in Chicago, where ohh my gosh...he and all his friends just happen to own a ton of real estate. Interesting how if the Olympics were held in Chitcago he and his supporters would make a killing. But hey, whats more important in life, the sacrifice of our troops, or the Obama's having to sacrifice by going to Denmark. Anyway, all this is moot considering Stewart is right, the democrats own our government right now and have not been able to accomplish a thing.

What is funny is the Jon Stewart doesn't lie. Everything he presents is truth, with a humorous "slant" (for lack of a better word). Jon Stewart really asks the tough questions that should be asked by the main stream media. I have said this before and I will say it again, Jon Stewart is one of the truest journalists around today.
I guess it is a sad state of affairs in this country that a Comedian is one of the best journalists in the business and that the topics he is engaging are quite humorous in them selves.
Did anybody see his interviews will Blago, Ron Paul, Bill CLinton or what about Jim Cramer. All his questions are relevant and to the point.

The government has petroleum reserves that can be made available to the public to control the cost of gasoline. Now, why is it that some people think the government cannot get in the health care system through public option to help control health care costs for the working poor.

bearclaw2304 - Do you really want to be bring the Iraq War into this? I guess you do so here is the facts, in case you forgot. GWB and his administration presented trumped up intel (Saddam has WMD's; Saddam is connected to Al-Queda) to congress. In the wake of 9/11 and to not be branded as a traitor, which was going on at the time, several Dem Congressmen voted to go to war.
So lets look at the breakdown of Dems v Reps V Inds House of Representatives
For: Reps-215; Dems-82; Inds-0
Against: Reps-6; Dems-126; Inds-1
No Vote: Reps-2; Dems-1; Inds-0
Senate
For: Reps-48; Dems-29; Inds-0
Against: Reps-1; Dems-21; Inds-1
No Vote: Reps-0; Dems-0; Inds-0
So based on the evidence, majority of the elected Democrats did not vote for the Iraq War. Majority of the Republicans did.
No lets debunk the "Surge". What the Bush administration failed to tell you is that the "Surge" didn't work on it's own merit. First lets talk about what happens in a "Surge". When you flood an area with troops, the "bad guys" will move and operate in a less congested area. That is called "Displacement Theory" and it is a common theme in Police activity. Add more cops to the streets, the criminals will look other places to operate.
So the claim that the "Surge" work is yet another lie from the Bush administration. The reason that these people were insurgents in the first place is because their way of life was destroyed. We destroyed the infrastructure of Iraq, and we disbanded the Army and police force, which many were employed by.
This people were fighting for scraps in their own country. Now that we are paying them 10 dollars a day they stopped attacking us.

Hey moron, did I say he had overwhelming support? No, If you read my comment I said he had democratic support to go to war in Iraq. That was in 2003 before democrats had control of congress. He also was able to bring the "Surge" strategy in 2007 with no support from democrats. I also might point out that my comment was in reply to GLO who was in fact the person that brought up the war in Iraq. My comments, had you read them were in response to his inability to stay on topic. Much as your inability to read apparently.

Need to face the fact, Democrats for the most part have been bought and paid for by the Health Care Industry, how else can they have a majority in both houses and still not able to accomplish squat. They don't want a Public Option any more than the Health Care Industry does, that is if they want the $'s for re-election. One Big Joke! When it all washes out, Washington will mandate that everyone buy health insurance, and guess who automaticly has somewhere around 30-40 million new customers? So far not one meat head in Washington has the represented the people who can't afford a lobbist, "THE POOR AND NEEDIEST OF ALL."

Way to go Jon! You are so right about the demigods and the rest of the bumbling members of congress. Now if you could just help get them to fix ERISA which ripps off disabled americans by allowing insurance companies to deny long term disability policies after 1-2 yrs coverage, and they are helpless to fight the denial due to all the loop holes in the law.
Jon go to "youtube" see the video's by "disabledvictim" see the problems and then if you have the balls do a story about it.
