Republican Chris Christie holds a small 46 percent to 42 percent lead over New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine with 7 percent backing independent Chris Daggett and 5 percent undecided, in a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll conducted Sept. 28-30. The margin of error is 4 points.
The new poll comes on the heels of a Monmouth University poll showing that Corzine had closed to within three points, and a Quinnipiac University poll that had Corzine 4 points behind.
All this despite the fact that Corzine is seen unfavorably by 53 percent and favorably by 36 percent. Christie is seen favorably by 47 percent and unfavorably by 36 percent.
In an effort to encourage the same level of civil dialogue among Politics Daily’s readers that we expect of our writers – a “civilogue,” to use the term coined by PD’s Jeffrey Weiss – we are requiring commenters to use their AOL or AIM screen names to submit a comment, and we are reading all comments before publishing them. Personal attacks (on writers, other readers, Nancy Pelosi, George W. Bush, or anyone at all) and comments that are not productive additions to the conversation will not be published, period, to make room for a discussion among those with ideas to kick around. Please read our Help and Feedback section for more info.
