Fifty-five percent of voters disapprove of the job Corzine is doing compared to 43 percent who approve. Fifty-two percent view him unfavorably compared to 46 percent who see him positively, while Christie is seen unfavorably by 50 percent and favorably by 46 percent. Those numbers indicate, as have other polls that tested the mood of New Jerseyans, that they are venting their dissatisfaction with the direction of the state and the tenor of the campaign.
Voters trust Christie more than Corzine on taxes by 49 percent to 36 percent with 15 percent undecided. They trust Christie more to cut government spending by 48 percent to 28 percent with 23 percent undecided. And they believe Christie is more likely to crack down on government corruption by 49 percent to 33 percent with 18 percent undecided.
