Reid Trails Republican Challengers in Nevada

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid would lose to either of the two Republicans who lead the GOP field of possible contenders if the 2010 Nevada Senate race were held today, according to a Mason-Dixon poll for the Las Vegas Review-Journal that was published today.

Realtor and former Las Vegas college basketball star Danny Tarkanian leads Reid by 48 percent to 43 percent with 11 percent undecided, although that's way down from the 11 point margin he enjoyed in September.

However, former Nevada state senator state Republican Party chair Sue Lowden has increased her lead over Reid to 49 percent to 39 percent with 12 percent undecided. She led by 5 points last month.

The margin of error for both contests is 4.5 points.

In a Republican primary, Lowden is statistically tied with Tarkanian, leading him 23 percent to 21 percent. The only other candidate who draws measurable support is former Assemblyman Sharron Angle who polls 9 percent. Forty-four percent are undecided. The margin of error is 6 points.

Fifty percent of voters view Reid unfavorably compared to 38 percent who have a positive perception, about the same numbers he had in August.
