Our Capitolist friend Pat Murphy reports that Hillary Clinton has effectively posted a notice to PUMAs, and to the rest of us, she's not running for president ever again. In effect saying she's already a big girl in a big job and feels very comfortable with the way things have turned out ("maybe it's a woman thing"), the past first lady and former U.S. senator told Ann Curry on NBC's "Today Show" she will let the job of secretary of state be her career capstone.PD toolbar!
Frankly ladies, I'm sad to hear it. Given her age (and my own -- we're both in our early 60's), I feel confident that her refusal is ironclad and, if we were closer, I'd tell her she's right to conserve her longevity. But I do hate to abandon the notion of a Hillary Clinton/Sarah Palin matchup in some future political girl team dream playoff game.
Although I did feel a regional swelling when the Minnesota Twins of my mid-20th Century youth were briefly in the running to play a World Series last week, the pursuits of political campaigns are much more my kind of competitive action.
The idea of a contest in which both tickets are led by women would present the feminist political pageantry of a lifetime and, if Hillary had been able to endure, it could have happened in the remaining couple of good decades we actuarially share. As it is, the day that both political parties field a female candidate in the same presidential election remains pretty far off in our country's unlived history.
Fortunately, in the meantime, whether or not Mrs. Palin is persuaded to take on her party's ticket, lots of smart, post-feminism women are filling the benches in state legislatures, governors' offices, the U.S. Senate, and as has always been, where we belong -- in the House. and download the new Politics Daily toolbar!

I also wish I could have seen Hillary become our President. However, she is right. If President Obama serves 8 years, she will be 70 years old and deserves to enjoy the rest of her life as a peacemaker, grandmother, whatever in peace. She has given enough. It is to bad that Govenor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan cannot run. She is the right age, good looking (which the good old boys like) well educated (an attorney schooled at Harvard) and has a strong backbone. She doesn't take crap from a bunch of political perverts. Problem is that she was born in Canada. Her husband is a natural born US citizen but she isn't. Maybe that rule will change but I doubt it.

TO KBDITLY. NO DEAR, YOU ARE THE MORON. When Jennifer Granholm became Michigan's Gov, she walked into a state of bankruptsy left by that fat pig John Engler who robbed our coffers bare. It also is not her fault that the US auto industry has gone belly up. If they had listened to people telling them for years to get the milage up and stop making all of our cars overseas we would not be in this situation. You, dear, cannot see beyond the end of your nose, that Michigan's current situation would be much worse had not Jennifer Granholm become Gov. She has been working very hard to bring new jobs to Michigan despite the flack she gets from the still conservative legislature in Lansing. You will miss her when she's gone. You are to dumb to know it though. You just blame whoever is in charge now. Just like you probably blame President Obama for the misuse of our country by evil George W Bush.

Were her parents US citizens? IF so, it doesn't matter where she was born... Ask John McCain, who was also born out of the US.

I read an essay last fall that made me realize just how important it was for women to work together to see a woman elected to the presidency.

I want to see a woman hold the office and I don't care how hard the media trash women of both parties, I will never allow the sexist media to manipulate me. We've had males in the POTUS for 220 years. I don't expect I will find the perfect women to hold the office, and I KNOW the media will savage any women how makes an attempt at the office, but the essay was too powerful to ignore. I want to see Obama become a one-term guy and a women in the office in 2012. Period. I hope Palin doesn't run b/c she has been run over by the media and doesn't stand a chance. But I am voting woman and ONLY woman from now on.

I really hope so.
Its been a long time since we had a President in the White House
that's seriously trying to get things done!
(1) Healthcare reform
(2) Reinvigorating auto sales
(3) Modifying an 8 year failed economic policy
(4) A new attitude to foreign policy
(5) Dealing with Guantanimo
Not a whole lot of success yet, but kudos for hittin the ground running!
After all, its only been 150 days?

Here's to hoping he's successful, for all our sakes.
Republican, Dems, whatever, we need healthcare reform, domestic manufacturing, credibility in the world, a more solid economy, and for goodness sakes, AS A VETERAN, I CAN HONESTLY SAY, ... BRING OUR BOYS HOME!!

Sarah would rip Hillary's head off and sht down her liberal neck, and then go to lunch. I would love to see that battle because it would make crystal clear the choices we have as Americans to run our own lives or have Hillary run them for us. It would save the nation. Game on as far as I am concerned but Clinton knows she would get beaten into the filthy liberal dung pile by Palin so she will make an excuse not to go for it. She will let Obama try first just to punish him for making her so small.

I hope to goodness that we don't see either Palin or Clinton run for office ever again. Hillary, while knowledgeable, lacks the charisma for anything other than frightening little children. After her display in the Democratic primary, I wouldn't expect her to campaign on anything other than slander in the future.
Palin is the opposite - while she can charm the pants off of half of America, the other half is agape at her absolute ineptitude, hypocrisy and flightiness.
