Less than a week after her sister Mary announced the launch of
a private consulting firm, Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, says she is starting a group to oppose the Obama administration's foreign policy.
Politico reported Tuesday that the group, Keep America Safe, will oppose what it calls the administration's "radical" effort to move away from Bush-era foreign policy.
"The policies being proposed by the Obama administration are so radical across the board," Cheney said. "Whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, you want the nation to be strong, and so many steps this president is taking are making the nation weaker."

Keep America Safe, incorporated as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization, will focus on troop levels, missile defense, detainees and interrogations. Co-founders include
Weekly Standard editor William Kristol, who has long taken hawkish positions on foreign policy, and Debra Burlingame, the sister of an American Airlines pilot killed in the 9/11 attacks. The group launched its fundraising drive on Tuesday with a
Web video accusing President Obama of failing to back up his "tough talk."
Politico says that the new group "fills a void left by a Republican Party made skittish by the Iraq War, and apparently more eager to engage the president on domestic issues like health care." It will also continue the legacy of Dick Cheney, who has crusaded for a hard-line foreign policy since leaving office.
