Californians Go Negative on Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's fellow Californians now give her negative marks for her job performance, with 44 percent disapproving of how she's doing compared to 34 percent who approve, according to a Field poll conducted Sept. 18 - Oct. 5. Twenty-two percent had no opinion.

Pelosi's numbers have gone back-and-forth over times. In March, Californians approved of her performance by 48 percent to 35 percent with 17 percent undecided, a turnabout from May when 39 percent voiced disapproval and 30 percent approved.

Democrats view her positivewly by 51 percent to 23 percent but given how much of a lightening rod Pelosi is for Republicans, it is not surprising they disapprove of her by an overwhelming 79 percent to 7 percent. Independents are about evenly split.
