Oh dear W'Uppers, I could use some advice prontissimo – because I've agreed to embarrass myself for a good cause at tomorrow night's
Karaoke in the Capital, which Politics Daily is co-sponsoring, and I still haven't decided what to sing. I especially need an assist because: The last time I sang in public I was
17 years old. I have never set foot in a karaoke bar. And though I love to belt out show tunes in the privacy of my car, my kids respond roughly 100 percent of the time by turning on the radio, so I'm thinking that means
ixnay on
this or
this or even
this.
My 13-year-old daughter has but one request: "Just promise me you're not going to do
Miley, OK?'' And I have already ruled out by own two top picks – "
I'm Still Here" (though Elaine Stritch
is my musical role model) because it's five minutes long, and Jacques Brel's "
Quand On N'a Que L'Amour" -- thrilling political anthem though it is -- because, well, I remember when Teresa Heinz
stepped to the mic and said a few words in French; you would have thought she'd defamed George Washington. So, keeping in mind that I'd like to be able to show my face in public again someday, what have you got for me?
