There's a New Sheriff in Town

The writers at Woman Up are happy to learn their ladies' blog is going to be shielded from rude remarks. Despite our evolutionary long tail, the women who write on this forum are all originally somebody's daughter, and as much as we are big girls, we still get a bit insulted or have our feelings hurt when readers are gratuitously rude. Previously innocent to ubiquitous hate speech, we were a bit unnerved when we guilelessly moved into the Internet neighborhood six months ago, with our parent magazine Politics Daily, and cyber bullies greeted us with weapons drawn.
As writers, and as Americans, we believe in freedom of speech so, with quiet grumbling, we ignored the harsh words and LOUD or spam-ish posts that followed our written observations and we bravely joked when critics called us unattractive or hurled other personal disparagements. Despite improvements in certain corners, however, the vituperative viciousness has not abated. So the time has come to insist on etiquette.
As of this week, if a reader wishes to remark on the original thinking of our enormously talented and knowledgeable writers, his or her opinions are welcome. But, as in any discussion where one addresses others, the goal is to add value.
So, dear readers, try to be polite when commenting on this site. We are not censoring ideas, of course, but we have to insist on a few basic rules for expressing them: No name calling. No YELLING. No advertising your shopping site. No repeating the same thing over and over in comments responding to different posts, and, please people, no references to sexual acts. Thank you for your consideration. Monitors will remove posts that contain lapses.
