Annie Leibovitz Shoots Obama Family White House Portrait
Celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, who has faced relentless media scrutiny this year over her tangled personal finances, was selected to snap the official White House portrait of the Obama family. The photo, taken in the Green Room, was released this morning on the official White House Flickr stream.
Leibovitz typically photographs celebrities for magazines, and is known for her iconic shots of John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and Demi Moore, among many others. She has occasionally done portraits of political figures, including one of Queen Elizabeth II during a state visit to the White House in 2007.

Another example of how the president and his wife are more interested in behaving as celebrities than in leading our country. Maybe the article was planted to encourage us to watch Mrs. Co-Celebrity Obama tonight on the Jay Leno show.
I'll have to agree that the two Obama children look nice in the photo. There is still some innocence in the White House.

Glad to see they are all happy, the rest of the country is not smiling... Do they have to always have some one around them that has tax issues? And I am still waiting for David Letterman Jokes about the Obama girls, and please David, make them as tasteless as the ones you had for Sarah's girls.... thank you...

Nice picture, however, Mrs. Obama's black dress does not complement the dark olive green background. Something's amiss with the lighting, and perhaps Ms. Leibovitz's finesse as a world-class photographer is waning... P.S. Where's the dog?? That would have added a nice family touch!

It's nice to see a fellow Marxist like Obama use tax payer money and compassion only lefties have, to hire and bail out another way, way down and out bankrupt one like Liebovitz to take a pretty picture showing how happy they all are living off our dime, eating our cake while the rest of America starves.

Forget about the dog, take no notice of the room, there are no chairs! the picture could have been taken on a park bench in the middle of the park.
This is a beautiful picture, so natural and ordinary it could have been a photo of family, black or white or of any race. "It is a family picture".
The people in the photo are the subject not the background.

It's a good portrait, relaxed and down-to-earth. Though I wonder why they need Annie flipping Leibovitz to shoot it, she's photographed plenty of important people for what, forty years? Why not give a younger, up-and-coming photographer the job? Not to say Leibovitz is past her prime, but you'd think a photographer in a younger generation might have been selected to photograph a president who represents a new era in American politics.

I agree, that may have been an option, but the result speak for its self.
You cant beet experience and the ability to express natural skills in presenting the the focal point, forget the props.
No doubt the others will admire the work of art in the style is has been presented.
Ps. don't worry the youngsters will have their turn to photograph the President and his family and who knows, could even include his grandchildren in time to come, why, because In my opinion, I think the portrait will be hanging on the white house wall for a long,long time.
Changes mean changes and I am impress so far.

Yeah. My doxie dog could have taken that picture with a cell phone and two paws tied behind her back - for way less tax payer money - and she was bred to be stupid - just like most lefties. The kids are cute for such ugly parents though.
