Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily! As President Obama hits the campaign trail on behalf of Democrats in off-year elections, some Democrats say they are struggling with what they call the "Obama hangover," making it more difficult to recruit volunteers and generate the same level of enthusiasm, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Democrats are trying to win gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia, and a special election race in upstate New York for a seat that had been held by the Republicans. But incumbent New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine finds himself in a tight race, Virginia Democrat Creigh Deeds appears to be fading while Bill Owens, the Democratic House candidate in New York, has a small lead.
The Times says that one dynamic is that, in this cycle, conservatives, angered by what they've seen since Obama's election, are more energized than the Democrats.
