Sarah Palin Gets $1.25 Million for Memoir . . . So Far

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin received $1.25 million for her upcoming memoir, "Going Rogue," but that was only an initial payment, or a "retainer" in publishing lingo. Palin likely received another sum once the manuscript was submitted and will earn still more once the book is published.

Palin filed financial disclosure statements in Alaska detailing her 2009 income until she stepped down in July.

The New York Times outlined some of her and her husband's other earnings:
Ms. Palin also revealed that she earned $73,000 in salary while governor and a $6,370.80 per diem. Her husband earned $34,086.14 as a full-time oil production operator for BP Alaska and $32,260.35 as a commercial salmon fisherman for Toad's Fisheries. Mr. Palin also earned $3,500 in winnings from the Iron Dog Race and received a $3,252 discount on an Arctic Cat snow machine.

HarperCollins will release "Going Rogue" on Nov. 17. The initial print run will be 1.5 million copies.
