Taking a momentary break from Corzine-Christie-Daggett, let's get to a polling question that counts: In New Jersey, which is overlapped by the New York and Philadelphia media markets, who are residents rooting for in the World Series, the Yankees or Phillies?
The Yankees win, hands down, 58 percent to 28 percent (although they didn't win the contest that counted last night in the Series opener), according to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted Oct. 21-26.
The Yankees benefit by the support they get from heavily-populated northern New Jersey, just across the Hudson. But the suburbs closer to Philadelphia favor the Phillies.
Since everything these days is partisan, we would be negligent if we didn't add that the Yankees are chosen by 63 percent of Republicans, 56 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of independents. But now that we think of it, that's pretty bipartisan.
