Click here to visit the new home of Politics Daily!Good morning, Capitolists! Now that Harry Reid has told us a tiny bit about what he's proposing for health care reform, Nancy Pelosi has her turn today. She'll unveil the details, and we're unveiling everything else you need to know about what's making news.
Here's Washington in 60 seconds:
* The president will hold a small-business event in the morning, sign a bill to create a commemorative coin for the Girl Scouts in the afternoon, and meet with the Congressional Black Caucus and Progressive Caucus in the evening.
* The vice president is traveling to Florida to attend two fundraisers for the DNC.
* The House and Senate are both in session. Pelosi announces her health care plan this morning, while the Senate debates extending unemployment benefits while the jobless recovery drags on.
* Politico writes that when a conservative group in Iowa reached out to Sarah Palin to speak at an event, her peeps told them to pony up $100K. Iowa is the undisputed leader of the presidential proving grounds, and asking for cash to speak there is the ultimate faux pas for White House hopefuls. As one GOP leader said, "If somebody tells me they want me to pay an appearance fee, it tells me they're not very serious about running for president."
* It looks like the White House and Fox may be burying the hatchet -- for now. The Daily News writes that White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs reached out to Fox News Vice President Michael Clemente and that the latter went to the White House for a closed-door chat.
* Republicans are demanding an investigation into allegations that the White House has handed out perks to donors, including quarterly briefings with top administration officials, to thank them for their largess, The Washington Times reports. House Minority Leader John Boehner calls it "not just tawdry but illegal."
