Barbara Boxer Gets Tepid Marks in California on Favorability Scale

Now that former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has officially announced that she would run as a Republican against three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, SurveyUSA tested the waters on the favorability-unfavorability ratings on four candidates in the California race, but the results were inconclusive other than showing Boxer at the start with tepid numbers.

As would be expected at this point, aside from Boxer, the three candidates vying for the GOP nomination have name recognition problems to overcome, with 35 percent or more not knowing enough about them to have an opinion.

Boxer is seen unfavorably by 37 percent and favorably by 33 percent, while 21 percent describe themselves as neutral and 10 percent have no opinion.

Fiorina is regarded unfavorably by 24 percent and favorably by 11 percent, with 30 percent neutral and 35 percent having no opinion.

Chuck DeVore, a conservative state assemblyman, is seen unfavorably by 15 percent, favorably by 8 percent, with 26 percent neutral and 51 percent having no opinion.

Telecommunications professional Al Ramirez is seen unfavorably by 12 percent, favorably by 10 percent, with 23 percent neutral and 55 percent having no opinion.
