today's economy faces a dilemma of biblical proportions.

It is currently being held together by a string & the nail biting ingenuity of corporate America & small business. Top line growth has been spurred only by bottom line trimming of JOBS & business expense. Job creation isn't even a consideration at this time under the know nothing,, do nothing policy of this administration that continues down the path of fear mongering of an uncertain future of taxation & over exposure to a weakened dollar. Any rational mind need do no more than understand this is a toxic climate that doesn't include job creation but quite the opposite of bunker style, dig in deep mindset of survival. The stock market is presently being held up under false pretense so as not to exacerbate an ongoing demise of American wealth. This is more than apparent with (as I write) the market holding up after this terrible jobs report number,, positive 6 pts. on the DOW.

You hit the nail on the head when you said it will take yrs. to "absorb" this sinking loss of wealth & "truly stabilize" an economy that lingers on the brink of worsening numbers. The brainiac, number crunchers can say what they will about employment being a lagging indicator but this time it's a different game. Unless this administration becomes more pro-business & unleashes the underlying beast being the power of the "private sector" to create jobs,, we can all get used to these stagnant numbers until there is "real economic change" that heartens free enterprise.

The liberal mentality fails to understand their objectives are transitional features,, not first line problem solvers to a wounded economic giant that relies on the spirit of those willing to better their positions in life. You can pump a trillion $$'s into it but it's ending right back in the pockets of those who are hoarding it for safer times. This is on top of the $45 billion the Democrats stole from the US taxpayer to bail them out previously and the $200 Billion in credit facilities the democrats gave them to stay in business.

Only the Democratic congress could bail out all of these companies, including wall street, out after November 2006 when they took over congress and started spending other people's money like there was no tomorrow. In truth, it doesn't matter who was in office when, because the single largest factor in determining whether or not stuff is outsourced is whether or not there's a place to outsource. And that determination was not made by us. Rather, it was made by foreign governments who overturned decades of agrarian isolationism in favor of rabid, government sponsored capitalism.

At that point the choices we had here were to not participate and suffer the consequences, or participate and at least have some degree of say-so in the process. We chose the later. To choose otherwise would have been to choose a policy of industrial and trade isolation that would ultimately would have hurt us and benefitted those nations (mostly European) who would have jumped at the opportunity to fill the void.

The deniers of a world economy as something outside of our control would have us implement punishing policies in an attempt to put the genie back in the bottle. In fact, the current administration ran on promises of implementing such policies. If you notice, there's very little rush to do so. Because to do so at this point would only make things worse.

We are now one of a few major players, where once we were THE player. We either accept that, adapt to it and learn to work under those circumstances, or we die. Grabbing our bat and ball and running home and refusing to play isn't an option.
