Republicans are seeing signs of life in the party after a pair of big election day victories in New Jersey and Virginia but they still face obstacles in translating this year's successes into next year's victories in the 2010 midterm elections, the Washington Post reports.
The gubernatorial wins by Virginia's Bob McDonnell and New Jersey's Chris Christie showed a party that was more energized after its last two election year drubbings, the Post says. And the opposition that has been sparked to President Obama's economic and domestic agenda has given the GOP issues to rally around.
But the party still faces an internal struggle between the gOP establishment and conservative insurgents - something that contributed to their loss of a staunchly Republican district in upstate New York. The Post says it also still must find an agenda of its own and a set of leaders who can inspire the country.

Remember Reagan's claim about the Soviet Union being an "Evil Empire"?
Remember Bush 2's claim about the "Axis of Evil"?
Those are TEXTBOOK applications of the Leo Strauss political philosophy ... ... essentially ... create support for your political agenda ... by creating a threat from outside.
The Iraq War was simply an extension of this philosophical Ideology.
When you think about that ... it's really quite sick .... we taxpayers ... paid $1 TRILLION to invade Iraq ... and lost over 4,000 good men and women ... to consolidate a POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY ... a POLITICAL IDEOLOGY.

Of course ... Politics Daily is rife with Modern Republicans spewing grand generalizations ... but that's because most of them simply do not understand what their party actually stands for.

It's always good to provide PROOF of just how Morally Vacant the Modern Right is.

The GOP was provided a yellow brick road back to majority status by the botox b*tch and the soros puppet with their under the table, back door, midnight bribes to get their nationalization of the US health care industry. There MAY be 39 might be democrat congressmen who have a chance of being re-elected in 2010 after the way they sold out their constituents. The rest are facing landslide losses!

Don't tell me all this turmoil is mainly caused by white racists. I never saw a non white that wasn't proud of his race, as he should be and culture, etc. Being American should be the first regard as all three religions can be defined in two or three sentences using the same words. Who continually fuses this turmoil in the USA.? Whoever said "Love it or leave it" was correct. The laws, the Courts, the schools and the streets, show no real discrimination, lets drop it. A better Constitution than our own cannot be visualized. Long live and God bless America, home of Liberty! We all need to be at all times courteous.

Memo to the Washington Post - stop. This hand wringing and faux concern over the state of the Repub party is grade A, first class bilge. What Repubs need to do is face reality - a majority of this country describes itself as center-right. Represent them and you will win.
Every time people have a clear choice between conservative philosophy and its liberal mirror image, they lean rightward. Stop trying to be just a little less Dem than the Dems; history has shown that approach to be a loser.
Look at NY - a guy who didn't even live the district espoused conservative principles and practically won. Even the Dem who did win was to the right of the Repub candidate. Look at DC - who held up the health care bill in the House? The Blue Dogs, Dems noted for being fiscally CONSERVATIVE. Conservatism, when explained to people, works and it wins.
