The percentage of Americans who primarily blame the Republicans for the current state of the economy has dropped from 53 percent in May to 38 percent, according to a CNN/Opinion Research survey conducted Nov. 13-15. Twenty-seven percent blame the Democrats, up 6 points from May and 27 percent blame both.
CNN polling director Keating Holland said that if the rate of decline in those blaming Republicans continues, "only a handful of voters will blame the economy on the Republicans by the time next year's midterm elections roll around."
Thirty-six percent of those polled say President Obama's policies have improved the economy, 35 percent say they have had no effect, and 28 percent say they have made things worse.
