Giuliani Leads Gillibrand for Senate in Another Poll

Former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani leads Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in a 2010 Senate match-up, 53 percent to 40 percent, with 4 percent preferring some other candidate and 2 percent undecided, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Nov.23.

Though Giuliani says he won't run for governor next year, the New York Daily News reported last week that he was considering a Senate bid. While polls, like a recent one from Marist, have shown Giuliani trailing in a gubernatorial contest if Attorney General Andrew Cuomo becomes the Democratic nominee, they have consistently shown him ahead of Gillibrand.

Giuliani is regarded favorably by 53 percent of New Yorkers and unfavorably by 33 percent, with 4 percent having no opinion. Gillibrand, appointed earlier this year to the seat vacated by Hillary Clinton, is seen favorably by 46 percent and unfavorably by 41 percent, with 13 percent being unsure.
